Does anyone know the name of a Private investigator on Long Island that they can recommend?

Re: Identity Theft-getting worse
It seems that they have opened at least one card in DH's name. He is trying to call the credit card reporting agencies and they won't change anything because who is the read Mr.....? It's really upsetting us, we both left work early. I cried in front of my boss.. They also charged something on my account which also list Dh's name. I cancelled the card number and took his name off the account. Now...neither of us have any active credit cards.

That would be great but they have ALL of his personal info so they could just open another card, buy a car, house, etc. They are pretending to be him with all of his info.

Re: Identity Theft-getting worse
You need to get copies of all credit agencies and then file a report with the local police station.

Nothing is going to get closed if you do not have a case number. They need to file a report of identity theft. Since this is kind of common now, most police stations have a department that just handle this.

Re: Identity Theft-getting worse
My hubby had a HUGE Identity theft situation (I postd about it if you do a search). He became a pro himself at what needed to be done, checking his credit reports a few times a day He did have a Suffolk Detective working with him. I will ask him tonite if he has any names/referrals and I will FM You
These people even got a driver's license under my hubbys name! Luckily we didnt lose a dime, but it was VERY stressful on my hubby, because he takes his stuff very seriously. He's got perfect credit and lives by the rules, so this made him insane.

We have a case number. The cop told us honestly that there are so many of these cases. He said it would be sent to the identity theft dept but not to expect a result. He said to just take care of protecting ourselves.

That is true but anything is that opened in your DH's name should be closed with the company as long as you tell them that you have a police report.
