Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I'm not a smoker but DH used to be. When we first moved in together he used to smoke inside. He didn't understand that just not smoking in the same room as me wasn't enough. All my clothes and everything I owned reaked of cigarrettes which really wasn't fair because I'm not a smoker. Finally after several cases of missing cigarrettes he got the picture and started smoking only outside.
Personally I don't understand why anyone would want to smoke in their own home it brings down the value of your house.
ETA: If I was ever in a house w/DD and there were people smoking I would just leave doesn't matter if it's close family either.

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I'm not a smoker, but my DH is. We've been in our house for six years and my husband has never lit up in here. He usually goes out on the deck or over by the side of the garage to smoke. I've never even had a guest smoke in here. They just go outside on their own ... and I'm grateful.

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I quit almost a year ago. However, before that time I lived in non-smoking environments and smoking environments. If I lived in a non-smoking environment it was already customary to smoke outside, so there would never be smoke around a child (or any other non-smoker for that matter). However, when I lived in a smoking environment I did not change my behavior for guests.

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
that is one of the reasons that we don't go to DH's grandparents house.. they all refuse to smoke outside.. so we don't go there anymore... I think it's absolutely disgusting!! If you want to kill your lungs go right ahead, but don't you dare bring it near my kids!!!!

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I would have thrown a fit if anyone smoked around my daughter, and I smoke. I have never smoked around her, ever. It is so bad for them (not to mention for me too, but that is another whole debate).
No one smokes in my house. If you smoke, you go outside and smoke. Even if the baby is not there, once the smoke is in the house, it always smells like that. I don't care how many windows you open.
If I was at someone else's house, honestly I probably would have taken the baby and left, or had DH take her home, depending on which side of the family it was.

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I started smoking again and whether I'm the host or a guest or whatever, I got outside to smoke. I only smoke in my house when its DH and me. If we have DH's kids, and the kids are playing in their room (upstairs) I will stand by the window with my head hanging out and smoke. If the kids are downstairs, I will just go outside.

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I agree with so many of you and if I could have left I would have. It was for my mom and we live an hour and half away so leaving was out of the question.
I am so dreading their block in 2 weeks (they have on in the winter and it is actually pretty fun) because even though everyone will be outside people will come in to warm up. I think I will staying at my moms.

Kids or no kids, I always go outside to smoke, if its too cold, then I go to the garage. I don't like the smell of smoke in my home.

im not a smoker. and i never understand how people can smoke indoors at all when there are nonsmokers present, kids or adults.
I agree 100%. This bothers me - A LOT! I cannot tell you how angry this makes me. ESPECIALLY when there are children around. The adults can leave if they want, the kids cant.
Here's my opinion.....if you're paying my mortgage then you can tell me when and how I can smoke in MY house. For the record Joe and i both smoke and it doesn't matter if there is 1 other person or 50 other people if even 1 of those people are non-smokers we do not allow smoking in our house. We set out mittens, hats, and a coffee can outside on our bench so smokers can stay wrm, but if we ared having a party with close friends who also smoke it's fine if we ALL smoke inthe house. I CAN NOT STAND non-smokers who think they have a right to tell me if and how I can smoke in my OWN house. Let the flames begin.......
i wouldnt flame you! its your choice and as you said, you pay your mortgage. however, i cant go to a home where someone smokes indoors because i am allergic and luckily for me, the people who i visit who smoke always smoke outdoors when im there.

Re: If you are a smoker can you answer my poll
I am a smoker, and I smoke in my apartment because its just me, but I do not expect to smoke in other people's homes if they are not smokers themselves, and even if they were, if there was a child present, I would not smoke in front of them even if other people were. I would always expect to go outside if I wanted to smoke in someone else's home and they were not smokers.
