If you are finding out the sex of the baby...
What is your answer when someone asks if you are finding out the sex of the baby.... I'm really sick of hearing 'oh you're ruining the surprise!'... I haven't come up with a good comeback yet
and also what is your answer to 'Do you have baby names picked out yet?' I just answer.. "we have a few picked out" I'm just tired of peoples opinions when I'm not asking for them
yes, I am having a cranky day.. damn hormones

I just tell people that I would love it to be a surprise, but I am soo impatient and I wanted to do the nursery blue or pink, I think it is easier for baby showers to to know what you are having. I honestly would love to be surprised - it is just not me.

Re: If you are finding out the sex of the baby...
When people would say that to me, I used to reply "No, I'll still be surprised when I find out." Why would one be more surprised at 40 weeks than 20 weeks?
ETS:
And with the names, I would do the same thing. "I have a few I've thought about." Then left it at that. If they said "well, what are they" I would just reply "you'll find out when we decide."

This is true. Unless you custom order your baby, it will be a surprise whenever you find out.

Also, I have to say that I think it is funny that people are harrassing you to wait and harrassing me to find out.
Nobody seems to understand that these are our pregnancies and not theirs.

Tell them you'd be more than happy to keep the information from them if they'd prefer. Lets' see if they can contain their excitement.

Re: If you are finding out the sex of the baby...
I've gotten this question many times. I tell them that I want to prepare ahead of time and be ready and also because I want to bond with my baby......one person went as far as telling me..you can still be prepared...they now have so many neutral colors...and I said....Yes, Indeed. That would work for some people but not necessarily for me. I think it's really a personal choice and one that each couple has to make regardless of what others think the couple should do. That kept the person quiet after that....I just think people don't really think ahead of time before they open their mouth. But what can you do....I just don't pay them any mind.....

I tell people that after 12 years of marriage, and not thinking we were able to have a baby, just getting pregnant was all the surprise I need!!

Re: If you are finding out the sex of the baby...
Tell them "we found out, because we were tired of people's stupid questions/comments" Then see what they have to say!
As far as the names, just say that you are tossing some around but haven't decided anything for sure.

Re: If you are finding out the sex of the baby...
If people say "You're ruining the suprise" I say "Believe me, it was a suprise in the sono room, and as a first time mom I think I'm going to have a lot of suprises on the day I deliver."
As for the name thing. I say, "We have a few we're considering, but we haven't finalized anything yet." Most people get the hint that we're not sharing names right now.

Re: If you are finding out the sex of the baby...
When people ask me, I say, "Yes, I am finding out the sex of the baby and I can't wait to find out! (I say this with a lot of enthusiasm)" People usually stop asking questions after that. If they give me the, "Why aren't you going to wait?" speech, I just say it's a very personal decision/choice and one that can only be made by me and my husband.
