If you are/have been(for the BTDT moms) slightly dilated/effaced did you still go to work?
I plan to work until a week before my due date but if the Dr tells me that I have dilated or am effeced, he'll request that I stop working right away right? I'm a little scared to trek my butt into the city if i'm 1-2 cm dilated or something in case thing move along quickly.

I stopped working when I was 39 weeks. I went for my 38 week appt check up, and I believe I was 1cm dilated and maybe 30% effaced. I still worked that last week and my doctor didn't say anything about NOT wanting me to work. My last day of work was actually the same day as my 39 week check up. I had the doctors appt early that morning. I was 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. I went into labor that night. I work 10 minutes from home so the commute was never a concern for me. I can understand your concern though. I would play it by ear and see what your doctor suggests you do when the time comes. Good luck!

I only have a 20 minute commute so it's hard to answer your question since you are trekking into the city but just to throw it out there I was closed shut until the day I went into labor while I've known other people to walk around dilated for weeks so being 1-2cm doesn't necessarily mean labor is right around the corner. I would probably take it on a day by day basis and the advice of the dr.

I asked my doctor for a "work from home" note when I was about 35 weeks. My boss was scared at the thought of my water breaking while I was in the office so he went along with it.

Yes, you can walk around a couple of centimeters dilated for WEEKS. I worked until a couple of days before I delivered and I was dilated starting at 37 weeks I think. 40 minute subway ride every day plus stairs like you wouldn't believe.

I was 2cm for a little over two weeks I worked until a few days before I had DD. I only had a 30 min commute and my job was closer to the hospital then work. I only stopped working because I had just gotten over the flu and felt I was coming down with something again.

I'm 2 cm dilated and 80-90% effaced and my doctor didn't mention anything about stopping work.
I plan to work until the 18th (if I make it that far!)

This is me too.. I counted that I climb up just under 100 stairs a day during my commute plus stairs beween 1 floor to the next in my office. So far, I feel fine & am capable to do this but I am really worried about doing it while I am dilated/effaced. My Dr suggested I stop working 1 month before my due date due to my commute but I have planned to work until a week before. I guess if things progress and I start to feel nervous/uncomfortable, i'll just stop earlier.
