If you are making and odd number of ounces or half ounces of formula
How do you measure it? For every 2 ounces you use one scoop but what if I want to make 5 ounces or 5 1/2 ounces? I am just afraid of doing it wrong.

I would use a half of a scoop...or just add an extra ounce of formula. I always thought it was better to have a little left over in the bottle, than to have not enough and a hungry baby.
Or, use a formula pitcher and you never have to think about it!

when we used the powder, I use to use a 1/2 a scoop when doing odd ounces....I never had issues but DS is now on RTF

Re: If you are making and odd number of ounces or half ounces of formula
What I had done (cause I was affraid I would measure incorrectly) was make a seperate bottle of 4oz to put in the fridge and added to the bottle I was making as needed. Was doing that mostly when DS was taking 5oz. I would make 4oz and add 1oz from the fridge bottle. Now he mostly takes 6, but in the odd case he only takes 5, I usually just dump the extra oz. It's just with the state of things and how expensive formula can be and how fast he goes through a can, it just seemed more thrifty to do it with the fridge bottle.

I try to do it as exact as possible, though those scoops aren't too exact. So 5 oz. is 2.5 scoops, 5.5 oz. is 2.75 scoops. I think I am pretty accurate doing it that way.

I never did halfs because I was too freaked out of messing it up.
When she was drinking 5 ozs I made a big pitcher and just poured 5 oz into the bottles. I only did that for like a week thuogh, and then just started making 6oz bottles.

Re: If you are making and odd number of ounces or half ounces of formula
We have small 2 1/2 oz bottles with caps I used for storing breast milk when I was pumping. If I need to make an odd amount, i just mix up 2 oz more in one of these bottles and add an ounce where needed. Then store the rest in the fridge till the next meal. I don't like to make up too much extra b/c it's only good for 24 hours.
ETA - I even send him to daycare witha couple of the 2oz bottles prefilled with water and a second formula dispenser so the daycare woman can add if he wants more then his usual.

I just put in a half scoop for the 1oz. i've never done 1/2oz.. i'd probably just put another full oz than do that.

Re: If you are making and odd number of ounces or half ounces of formula
i never make 1/2 ounce. its easier to make an odd amount of ozs
if ds drank 4.5 oz i would just make a 5 oz bottle - 2.5 scoops. if he was up to 5.5 oz i would just make a 6oz bottle
