If you are planning on breastfeeding......
....Will you still have formula waiting for you at home just in case?
I hope this isnt a stupid question!
Also- how do you know what formula to get?

The hospital usually gives you a little bit of formula just in case - your pediatircian's recommended fornula.
I was breastfeeding at the beginning, but not producing enough milk, so I actually had to start her on formula as well a few days after she was born. it's great to have it around just in case.

Re: If you are planning on breastfeeding......
Between the hospital and the classes we took we had so many samples of formula (oh plus the three companies sent me samples when I signed up on thier sites) so I had a bunch. When I got home and made the decision to give up trying to put him on the breast and to pump instead the formula was a huge help. I called my pediatrician for a recommendation.

We were sent some formula samples from companies. Plus, we figure the hospital will have some to give us!

I haven't received any formula-how can I get them to send me samples?
I do plan on BFing but I just figure I will wait to see what the doc tells me to put her on and then stock up.

Re: If you are planning on breastfeeding......
it is always a good idea to have something just in case... I was breastfeeding my son... when I came from the hospital my nipples were so sore I just couldnt even think of BF him... so we formula fed him a few times... now I pump and I havent had to use the formula for over a week...
ETA: we also got free samples, just the other day I got a package with Enfamil in it...

I will certainly have formula on hand just incase! I'll get it from the hospital.
