If you changed the floor plan of your kitchen?
We are starting to think about re-doing our kitchen. I hate the current layout and want to completely change it. But its a weird space and I am having trouble figuring out a layout that works. When you go to get the cabinets, do they do that for you - come up with a few different plans and ideas? Or do you have to go in and tell them what you want?

we used a general contractor so he worked with the layout ( we ended up not changing too much) and the cabinet people.

We won't be using a GC - DH will be doing a lot of the work himself (the demolition, electrical and plumbing work) so just not sure how we know what to do, kwim?

I'm sure the cabinet people can help you. We used one in bohemia on lakeland not sure if you are local. we also visited one by the tracks in massapequa area and even home depot. all should be willing to help. you might want to talk to a plumber or electrician though, depending on what you are moving.

Re: If you changed the floor plan of your kitchen?
we just went through this process
a lot of the cabinet places will do it - but they charge a fee (ie: home depot and consumers). if you order the cabinets through them, the fee gets applied to your order. if you dont order with them not only do you pay the fee, but i am not certain you will get a copy of their layout to use on your own.
in the end, i spent hours looking at kitchens and came up with our layout. we went to the cabinet store and showed them what we wanted and they mocked it up for us and we purchased the cabinets.
its a long process but so worth it in the end good luck!
eta - if you are moving plumbing you should get a plumber involved. we in initially drew up a corner sink but when the GC came to look at the layout and the space it turned out the plumbing couldnt be moved to that side of the room due to no basement access (he said it could be moved but it wasnt advised bc if there were any pipe issues in years to come you wouldnt be able to fix them easily)...so we had to change up the sink/dishwasher location bc of that

Would you mind sharing - about how much are the fees?

We completly changed our Layout. We went to Home Depot. They had someone come out and measure the kitchen and then we sat with the Designer to go over the layout and figured out what worked best for us. She was a great help in the design. We paid $100 and got the drawings but ordered our Kitchen somewhere else at 1/2 the price.
