If you didn't opt for the Ultrascreen did you get a Sono at your 12 wk visit?

It seems that if I don't do the ultrascreen test at the hospital I won't have another sonogram until 20 weeks! I can't wait that long and now think i am going to do the test just for this reason. Is this normal?

Seems pretty normal to me.

It also may have something to do with your insurance, they probably cover the ultrascreen, then a 20 week ultrasound and that's it unless medically necessary.

I have opted to not take the ultrascreen test. And the next ultrasound will not be until 20 weeks.

Honestly, the thought crossed my mind to have it done just to get some new pictures of the little poppy seed, but that would mean that I would have to hear the results of the test... and that is why we don't want to have it done!

UGH!!! SO, we are just going to have to be satisfied with simply hearing the heartbeat until 20 weeks!!!


FYI... my insurance does not cover the ultrascreen test... but that did not alter my decision at all!

i made my appt. too late and missed the ultrascreen and when i went to the dr. she was only going to listen to the HB but couldn't find it so she wound up doing a quickie sono to make sure all was well and it was. however, if that hadn't happened i might have had to wait til my 20 wk and that's hard! i'd go for the ultrascreen!

Thanks for the quick responses ladies. Its definitely not my insurance since my insurance will basically cover any thing my doctor tells me to do or does. It appears to be office policy because when I called to ask if I would be getting a Sono at my 12 week appt they said nope-not until 20 weeks. Haven't seen the baby since 8 weeks and dying to see that everything is a-ok!

Oh and JerseyPanda - I'm right there with ya! I wasn't planning on getting this done until I heard I had to wait then for a sono...now im torn!
