Re: If you get a real tree---have you put it up yet?

No - we will be away the coming weekend so we hope to put it up during the week next week.

I hate when it gets dried out and sheds before Epiphany...so I'd rather wait.

Tell me, what is your reason for doing that? And where will you store it then?

My reasoning - I have no idea, but DH's reasoning is because that is what his parents use to do Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
I forget his exact reasoning though. I listen so well don't I.
We will store it in our garage. We have never done this before though Chat Icon

I want to put it up now, but he thinks it is too soon.

Re: If you get a real tree---have you put it up yet?

I don't think you can put the real one up right after you get it ... I think because it is dry and you need to keep it in water (the root) for a bit

I had a real one last year. What it seemed like we needed to do was let it sit in the pot of water overnight so that it could settle and really open up--before putting all the ornaments on it.

We got our tree last night. We put it up but haven't decorated it yet. I think you're supposed to let it "settle" first. We'll probably decorate tonight if we get home early enough.

Last year we cut ours the 1st week in December and took it down January 22 Chat Icon it was still very healthy and barely any needles coming off.

Trees you buy that are cut already don't last very long because some are cut as early as October.

Cool, and if you can get it to keep drinking the water it helps too. Sometimes they just stop, you can tell when the tray is still pretty full iwth water Chat Icon
