If you go to a DR's appt & then have to go for a follow up, do you have to pay a 2nd co-payment?
How does it work with your ins co?
Do you have to pay a 2nd copay for a follow up appt?
I had an appt for an eye exam. The Dr on duty only knew how to prescribe lenses for glasses & I had to go back a week later for the contact specialist  I just got a bill in the mail to pay a copay for my 2nd appt. I has already paid a copay for my 1st appt.

I don't pay for well visits, but there's a lot more sick ones

ugh, I hate this! So because the Dr is incompetent & doesn't know how to prescribe for contacts, I am lucky enough to pay her extra money?? I'm so flippin pisssed right now. I seriously want to call up the office, tell them to throw away my file & curse them out!!

Yes, they are entitled to the 2nd copay, it is a 2nd visit, a separate dr. Yes it stinks, but the dr. sometimes does not get that much reimbursement for the visit, and legally they are allowed to bill you.

i hate that its like i dont want to come back its bc you told me to.
only dOnt charge if its a post op visit.
in your case try to work it out with the office. worth a shot

i would call the dr office and complain. maybe they can help you out. although, if you did see a dr twice, they can technically bill you twice.
if the first dr really didn't do much (testing, diagnosing or anything like that) i would be annoyed to have to pay for the first visit.

Yes- I pay a copayment each time I walk in the door.

Yes, the dr can charge for a co pay.
a doctor can charge for a visit as long as they see you and they write a note in The chart. there are different levels of visits they can charge for.

Unfortunately, yes. And what upsets me most is that first, I pay an arm and a leg for insurance and 2-My copays are insane...and if I go back for a follow up its another copay. Absolutely ridiculous!

The doctor I work for doesn't do contacts,not because he is incompetent, but because he is an Md. He doesn't want to sit and do a contact lense exam because its time consuming, and he is more there for the health of a patients eye. We ask them to see the other doc. Who isn't a Md. Pts get upset, but our recording advises u tell in advance what ur coming in for so we can direct you to the right doctor.
Eta. I would call the office and tell them of THEIR error, cause they should have asked also.

Yes. However I had surgery and my follow up appointments I don't have to pay for for 3 months.

yes esp when my youngest had ear infections..they always do a follow up to check to make sure the infection is going away.. i have asked them to waive the fee and they for me..never hurts to ask.

You do have to pay, but you can speak up and ask them to waive the fee. I've done this and they have agreed.
I never do follow ups for this reason, it gets to expensive for them to say "yeah your fine, pay me".
