We did a 10 day tour for our HM. If I were doing it again on my own (which is more our style, just didn't have time to plan since we were planning our wedding) we would do:

The most time in Rome
a few days in Venice
a few days in Florence
if you have time go to the Tuscany region. We really enjoyed Sienna.

Thank you Beth!!!! That's what we were thinking - and maybe extending the trip by a few days so we can go to the Amalfi Coast.

Two days in Venice is more than enough. I would definitely add Florence to your list. One of my favorite cities by far!

Definitely! Live music and espresso while sitting outdoors in the piazza is perfection!

Re: If you had 10 days to spend in Italy - where would you go??

We went to Italy last summer. With only 19 days there, we tried to fit in as much as possible. We had a great time however, if you are looking to have a relaxing vacation, you should limit the places you go. We would wake up by 7 and be out the door by 7:30 every morning and wouldn't get back to the hotel until 11. There is so much to see in a limited time.

Here was our itinerary:
Flew into Rome - 2 days
Train to Sorrento - 2 days
Day 1 - bus ride along Amalfi Coast
Day 2 - ferry to Capri/Anacapri
Train to Florence - 1 day (didn't really like it there to be honest.)
Train to Venice - 2 days
Train to Milan - 1 day

My 2 favorite places were Rome and Sorrento. I could've spent much longer in each of those places. Venice was also beautiful, 2 days is definitely enough time there though.

Good luck and have an awesome trip! No matter what you do, it's beautiful there!

Re: If you had 10 days to spend in Italy - where would you go??

i would split 5 days between venice and florence (including travel time) and then 5 days in rome (there is sooo much to see in rome! vatican, trevi, colosseum, panthenon, etc.)

i wouldn't try to cram so many cities in 10 days bc i don't think you will enjoy it and get the real feel of italy...there is a lot of walking and you will get tired from being on the go so much..there is so much to absorb and take in...by the time i got to florence (which was the 3rd stop) i felt like my brain was on overload after touring the museums!! that when we got to our final stop in rome-we actually spent a day at the zoo, did row boats and had a picnic in the park just to settle down and relax! if you can add 4 more days...then i would consider going to a 4th city.

we spent 3 weeks in italy
1 week sicily
1 week b/w venice & florence'and 1 week in rome and i cannnnttttt wait to go back!! i loved it there and would move there in a heartbeat! :)
u will love it...enjoy!
