If you had a baby that hated the paci...
did they ever wind up needing to use it down the road? Ds has never used it, and is 4 months...does that mean we won't ever need it, or that he just hasn't needed it yet?

If he hasn't used it yet, I wouldn't bother trying later. I would think he doesn't need it.

We tried it, she spit it out, we realized we were probably saving ourselves one more thing to wean from later so we didn't push it.

DS hates it and the only time recently he used one were the frozen teethers when he was teething real bad. i knew he was desperate then..LOL

My DD took a paci here and there for the first few weeks but she was a thumb sucker from birth (actually.....before birth.....I have the sono pics  ) so we didn't really ever need the pacifier.

DS never took to it, spit it out wanted nothing to do with it....He prefered his thumb!!!!
Too bad I can't take the thumb away!

Ok, so it's not like he wil ever "need" it it sounds like. I have never pushed it, and to be honest, I really don't care that he doesn't take it, just wondering if he will ever require it down the road...thanks ladies!

No, DS never liked it, I think he took it for about 2 weeks after he was born and that was it. He would just get more angry if we offered it to him.
He never had a soothing issue or anything down the road where I thought "man a paci would help right now"
ETA: he was never a finger/thumb sucker either!
I figured I was just lucky, one less thing to have to deal with, keep track of, clean, etc

My DS never liked it, never took it - he is 2.5 now and has never used one.
My DD will take one sporadically (she is 2.5 months) but, prefers her thumb

DS is 5 months, took it a handful of times when he was really little and that was it. I haven't offered it in months, as PP have said its another thing I won't have to wean, so I'm fine with it. Now he sucks on his lovey blanket when going to sleep

Neither of my kids seemed inclined to use the pacifier and I tried all different kinds with both of them. Once I disposed of them, there was no going back. (They're now 2 and almost 4.)

She never took one but has discovered her thumb one month ago. Now she sucks her thumb to sleep I don't know if thats good or bad but she's been sleeping thru the night since

I learned that my DS will consistently only take it with others. With me its hit or miss.
