If you had a colicky baby....
...so DS will be 4 months old next week----he is so much more happy and the crazy crying is sooooo much better now! My question is how many of you dealt with frequent night waking? He wakes up and can't soothe himself back to sleep---any hints or advice?? I think he is so used us soothing him back to sleep all those nights!

We have a white noise machine in DD's room. She falls alseep to it and when she wakes up in the middle of the night (very rarely anymore) we turn it back on and she goes right back to sleep.

the mobile worked wonders..... I would have to turn it back on a few times, but it was worth it!

I got it at Brookstone. It plays white noise, dryer, car ride, waterfall..... It has really been a lifesaver the last couple of months!

also, you do not need a white noise machine. Just get a white noise CD and put it on repeat play.

Re: If you had a colicky baby....
my son was colic for the first 5 months and he is almost 2 and a half and still wakes during the night. Not every night, but most... i've tried everything, so I am what soothes him back to sleep. Its annoying, but it is what it is... i would def try white noise, paci, lovey, or just CIO.. if you can handle that. Good luck...

Re: If you had a colicky baby....
A white noise machine usually does it for DS, and when he was 4 months we still swaddled him sometimes. He now likes his Fisher Price Aquarium more than the white noise machine, so that may work too.
I think the main thing that did it though was sucking on his hand, and later, his thumb. He never liked pacifiers, though if you haven't tried them with DC, I would. He would suck away and that helped him go to sleep.

Oh, I forgot to add, glad the days of colic are over! They seem so different personality wise when they aren't upset all the time.

Re: If you had a colicky baby....
We started letting DS CIO for short periods of time at that age. He started sucking his thumb and even though it's not the best habit, it works. He is now able to sooth himself back to sleep and even during the day when he's tired- it helps him unwind.

Re: If you had a colicky baby....
I have to say after Christopher grew out of his Colic he is now a GREAT sleeper. We still have the crib aquariam in his crib and I hear him wake up and turn it on and fall back to sleep on his own.
