If you had a physical job, have your job duties been modified since becoming preg?
I am on my feet all day at work (3 full days a week) & constantly running around for people, bending, lifting, etc.. doing all the things that I cannot do while preg, just wondering if anyone had a similar work day? Were you forced to tell your boss earlier because of your physical job?

Re: If you had a physical job, have your job duties been modified since becoming preg?
With DD I was able to keep doing my job until I was about 16 weeks. And it was a very physical job. After that, the bosses got nervous and put me on modified light duty. @ 20 weeks I went into an office for light duty.
They say if you are used to doing the activity (work, gym, etc) then you can continue to do so.
With this PG, it was IVF, so I was on light duty when we started the retrieval and everything.

DH is an electrician and there is a girl on his job 6 months pregnant. She's still doing all of the same stuff she was doing. I told DH to watch out for her. But he hasn't seen her again.

I wonder if it's me? Is it MSG? I'm an electrician. I started here at 6 months, and was unemployed before that.
I'm 8 months tomorrow and still working. It's an 8 hour day, 5 or 6 days a week. On my feet for all of it. I told them the minute I walked in the door. I also have no problem saying "I'm pregnant, I can't do that".
I've reduced what I lift and carry to what I feel comfortable with. The MD told me 20 pounds but I find that really low. What if I had an older child? I'd be lifting them, no? So I'll lift a fiber glass ladder, but not a wooden one. I won't lift a bundle of conduit, but I'll lift a few sticks. I walk faster than some of the guys on the job and another foreman pointed that out to mine. Made me feel pretty darn good. Stairs have become a small chore. I'm winded going up two flights, so more than that I take the elevator.
They have made mention of changing what I am doing, but other jobs keep popping up and need to be completed before they change me around.

Re: If you had a physical job, have your job duties been modified since becoming preg?
I wound up telling my boss early because we have a small business and I just would rather her know JIK. I'm a chiropractor and with DD 1 I worked full duty right up until my due date. I only work 1 full day and a 1/2 day which makes a huge difference though. I'm hoping I feel as good with this pregnancy so I can do the same.
