If you had more than one chemical?

Did you end up having a problem that needed to be corrected, like low progesterone or something? Or was everything fine and you eventually conceived and had a baby with no interventions?

I just had my 2nd chemical last week and I'm wondering if it's likely there's something wrong or if it was just bad luck.

Is there anything I should be asking my doctor at this point? Thanks!

If you had more than one chemical?

i had two and i had several issues that likely caused them. i had a blood clotting issue (PAI 4G/5G polymorphism), an immune issue (elevated NK activity) and a partial HLA match with my DH.

i ended up doing IVF to conceive because I have PCOS and did not ovulate regularly. so in addition to IVF i was treated for the issues with lovenox, baby aspirin, and IV intralipid treatments. this was all done through a reproductive immunologist. he has some very unique blood panels that other doctors do not run, which is how we found out about the issues. there is no way to know which, if any, of the treatments kept me pregnant so we had to treat them all. it did work, my 18m old DD is the result of these treatments.

all of that being said, chemicals are pretty common. but because you have had two consecutive i would def seek the opinion of an RE that deals with recurrent pregnancy loss. if it was only one id say its a fluke but once you have more than one you know something is going on, and IMO would you really want to wait for another one before finding out what, if any, the issues are? its def entirely possible that you could conceive again and have no issues, but without looking into it you won't know what your risks are. sorry you are going through this Chat Icon good luck

Re: If you had more than one chemical?

Thanks so much for your reply!

I do already have a DS that I conceived with no problems (1st try!), so I'm not sure if that makes a difference?

I suppose I could have developed some issues since having him? Plus I'm no spring chicken, almost 36, so I'm not sure if that's an issue.

I called my dr today and she didn't have my blood work from last week back from the lab yet. So perhaps that will give us some insights.

I just posted about this! So glad you asked as I wasn't sure if I could Chat Icon I also had progesterone issues with both my pregnancies and was on supplements. Wondering if that's why I have had 2 chemicals.

If you had more than one chemical?

your dr can run a blood panel called recurrent pregnancy loss panel. It checks for all kind of possible reasons (mostly blood issues)
Good luck

I had 3 MCs in a 6 month time span. I started taking baby aspirin and was put on progesterone by the 3rd one but that one still only made it to 6 weeks. I started a monitored cycle with an RE two mos after that and it stuck but he didnt do anything other than prescribe the progesterone.

Re: If you had more than one chemical?

Thanks so much for sharing. Can I ask what, if any, tests your RE ran before giving you the progesterone? I went to the RE for the first time today and I'm trying to decide which tests to do right away.

I had two chemicals in a row. My doctor ran some really basic blood tests which were normal. I went on to have a healthy baby quickly after.

Thank you so much for sharing, Chai! Congrats to you. That gives me some hope that maybe it's just been bad luck and nothing is wrong.

They did a blood panel and determined I had MTFHR but didnt think it was a strain that caused MC (dont fully understand that but went on baby aspirin just in case). I also did an HSG and got PG on the next cycle.

Good luck Chat Icon
