If you had PPD (not the baby blues) the real thing..
I was diagnosed with it and it happened rather quickly after coming home from the hospital... Some people may be ashamed of of but I truly feel that I experienced it for a reason and I hope to help others one day who go through this same thing. How long did it last for you? I went on a antidepressant 4 weeks after she was born and I went off of it 7 months after.

Re: If you had PPD (not the baby blues) the real thing..
I did after the twins were born. PPD compiled with being a single mother was extremely difficult. I never used medication but probably should have. I went through a very difficult time when they were about 4 years old and finally looked towards medication for help. I went on antidepressants and it worked wonderfully. I went off one medication about a year later and the other I weaned off when I wanted to get pregnant with DS...

I am not sure if I had PPD but I know I felt blue for longer than just the first 2 weeks. I felt bad for about 6 weeks. Part of my problem was that we had trouble BF'ing and also DD was born in February and it was dark and cold out and I was home alone a lot.

Re: If you had PPD (not the baby blues) the real thing..
I definitely had PPD, and I sought counseling for it because I was near suicidal at one point. I am not ashamed of it, nor will I ever be. It's something that every woman should be aware of and talk about. It's very real and very scary. That being said, I did not go on medication for it because I was BFing at the time and was told there were no compatible meds with BF. Ironically, it was when I stopped BF-ing that I started to finally come out of the fog and haze of PPD. I think it was very much linked to my hormones from BFing. Every now and then, I bump a post that has information on a chat board for women experiencing PPD, I will bump it for anyone who needs it, and I am always here if anyone ever needs to talk
