What is on your staircase? We're going to carpet the basement and originally assumed we'd do the staircase too but now we're not sure bc of the OSE.

If you do have the entire staircase carpeted, do you have one of those plastic runners on the landing, or something like that? Anyone have only the stairs after the landing carpeted?

The interior door opens into our kitchen if that info is useful.

We have the same set up. The landing for the outside entrance is tiled like the kitchen and the stairs for the basement are carpeted.

Thanks for responding! The stairs between the landing and the kitchen - tile too? Or carpet on those steps, then the tiled landing, then carpet on the steps down to the basement?

Hmm.. We don't have stairs between the landing and the kitchen. But if we did, I would do them in tile to keep it consistent with the kitchen. Then, the basement officially begins when you go down the stairs!

In my parents house as you may remember, they have carpeting starting down the stairs into the basement. The kitchen is hard-wood and the kitchen and stairs are separated by a door, so it doesn't look odd.
