If you have an herb garden come in!
My brother just bought me 9 herb plants that I have in the individual planters sitting in a flower box attached to my deck.
Is there anything special I need to do to take care of them?
I have... -peppermint -sage -rosemary -basil -Italian parsley -curly parsley -thyme
(I can't remember the other 2!)

I have all of those this year and cilantro. I grew them all last year in pots and they were fine. Good luck!

They should be fine. You can transplant them all into the planter if you like or you could put them in the ground. I would be careful with the mint, it can grow into the lawn if you plant it in the ground. You can put rocks or dividers into the ground to keep it from growing out...or just leave it in the planter.
If you plant the parsley and rosemary in the ground it will come back. The parsley comes back every other year, so you plant one next year in order to have it every year.
This is our herb garden - Parsley, Oregano and Rosemary are all from previous years. The mint is new cuz I used to do it in a pot and it didn't come back this year.

Re: If you have an herb garden come in!
Thanks for the replies! I don't have much of a green thumb and I didn't want to do something wrong with them.
I'd love to plant them (and eventually I hope to) but I'm afraid my 1 year old puggle would smell them and either dig them up or eat them all together, lol!

I would just give them some veggie fertilizer and plenty of sun.

I don't have a green thumb but I manage to do OK with my herbs... I plant them in planters on my deck every year... the chives and mint came back from last year and I just got new basil and sage... I didn't plant the mint in the yard cause it multiplies quickly.. my Mom had that problem. Also, you'd be surprised how fast the basil comes back when you cut it.

Re: If you have an herb garden come in!
herbs do very well in containers with good drainage. My garden is pretty close to my backdoor so I plant my herbs with the other veggies, but you can just have them in pots on your deck or patio. You can put them in large planters & add annual flowers like wave petunias or geraniums.

Re: If you have an herb garden come in!
You probably couldn't get rid of the peppermint even if you wanted, it always comes back. I have a sage plant from last year and I did nothing to it, this year it is huge! It looks like it is going to flower too. Parsley is very easy to grow. This is my first year with basil, so far it's not doing too good. I think it's because its been cold out, apparently they like hot weather.
