I took one through community education in my school district. It was $60 for 5 weeks. I loved it and can't wait to find the time to take the instructor's "advanced" class.

An actual "class" - no. But I have taken one on one lessons from a professional photographer. And other learning experiences in a small gathering of 4 to 5 photographers.

I took a Class at Nassau Community College, but I never had time to practice so unfortunately, Auto Mode is still my BFF!

I want to, but between working FT and a DH with cr@ppy hours, there just aren't enough hours in the day!
I did however, manage to convince my job that photoshop was necessary for my job (in finance ... ... ) so they sent me to a two day class to learn it.

Some of the local camera stores offer classes as well, some of which are very inexpensive.

Are there others besides Berger Brothers who do? I check their schedule whenever they publicize it but I seem to have constant conflicts with their schedule.

If you search your camera on Youtube there are classes on there. I have a Cannon and they offer tips and advice for all the buttons and settings. It was a help to watch some videos and playing around.

K--E and i took the nikon class last year. it was good, but i didn't really get anything out of it. i think she got more than i did.
my best resource is calling friends and just trial and error. i'm not into the technical aspect of it, i shoot everything on auto!

Re: If you have an SLR do you or have you ever taken any photography classes?
I took an online class that was geared toward moms/scrapbookers and I loved it.
It's called Oh Shoot! Intro to Digital Photography through the Jessica Sprague website. It's six weeks long with a new lesson every Monday, daily emails, weekly chats, a forum and a weekly assigment/photo review. It basically teaches you to use all the settings and get off Auto. I learned so much and it was much easier to do it at home.
There's another online photo class through MLK Studios which I believe is more technical but has great reviews.
Learning about my camera has made a HUGE difference in how I take pictures. Now I'm almost never in auto.
