In general if you voluntarily quit you don't get to collect unemployment.

no you cannot get unemployment if you are willfully unemployed (you quit).

yes, but it depends on the circumstances. i was able to collect because my boss was basically forcing me out by making the work environment unbearable. he would yell, call me names, and the final straw was when he threw something at me. i grabbed my things and left and called unemployment asap...i think he was too scared to contest it.

You need to be laid off or fired to get unemployment. Of course you can apply and if you employer doesn't fight it you could collect, but I don't know how the government would feel about that.

I'm sorry you had to go thru that This is definately a time when you could challange and get unemployment!

Correct. That's what we call Constructive Discharge, where the boss makes the environment so hostile that the employee is compelled to quit.
In those cases, you can usually get unemployment, but you need to have your facts and back-up available.
If you just leave because you want to leave, no unemployment for you!
