If you make frozen pierogies
How do you cook them? I like the Mrs. T's potato and cheddar or onion pierogies and have always sauteed them in a pan. Tonight I am trying baking them in the oven. Hope they turn out good. Anyway, just wondering how you prepare them.

Re: If you make frozen pierogies
I boil them for a minute or 2. then put a little EVOO and butter in a skillet, sautee some onions, or maybe a clove of garlic, fresh parsley, and add a little breadcrumb to them, so they develop a nice crust.
Serve with the onions and sour cream. they are delicious, crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. mmmm now I want them.

OK, so I am def going back to boiling & then sauteeing with butter. In the oven they came out way to hard. Didn't like them very much. LOVE them the other way.

Re: If you make frozen pierogies
probably too late but I always do this:
I nuke them for about 4 mins. Then I put them on a broiler pan and brush them with some light butter. Stick them in the oven at 425 for about 15 mins and they are brown and yummy. Sometimes I sautee some thinly sliced onions and serve them with the pierogies.
DH likes them with sour cream but I just sprinkle a little kosher salt on top.

I usually boil them but if it's possible, we've even grilled them..it was an experiment that went totally delicious!

silly question, but how do you add the breadcrumbs to them? Do you just sprinkle the breadcrumbs into the pan?
Sorry, all I've ever done is boil pierogies!!! I was going to try something different tonight!

Once they are sauteeing, and before they get a golden crust on them - they will be a little sticky from the EVOO/butter, so I just sprinkle a thin layer of breadcrumbs, while they are in the pan. Flip em, and do the other side. dont over breadcrumb them... just a dusting.

Re: If you make frozen pierogies
We usually boil them and then either have them with apple sauce and a veggie or sometimes we'll boil them for a little bit and then before they're ready, we'll sauté them with EVOO and onions. Yum! We use the Mr. & Mrs. T also!

Re: If you make frozen pierogies
Bake them in the oven on the non-stick tin foil - about half way done I flip othem over and put a little salt and pepper on them.
Or
Par boil and put them on the George Forman for 2 minutes to get crunchy on the outside.

I thaw in hot water as well. Saute with red onion in ICBINB and serve with sour cream. Yummmmmmmmm. I also get the fresh ones from the Polish Deli and skip the thaw step. So delish

Re: If you make frozen pierogies
Boil, then fry them up with butter and bacon or crackling. Sometimes I add onions. I get fresh ones. I then serve with sour cream, even though they don't do this in Poland.
