If you modified your vaccine schedue...a few questions
Which vaccines did you skip altogether? Which are you allowed to delay and not allowed to delay?
My DD will be home and hopefully breastfed the first 9-12 months so I wanted to delay the Rotavirus vaccine and the polio vaccine because I still want her to get the DTaP, HIB, and Pc in the first 7 months. After that I would be willing to give the others which to me seem like less of a threat. What do you think? What did you do?
I am also skipping the flu, MMR, and Hep B shots for now. I plan on giving the MMR at age 4 when they only need 1 shot and Hep B at maybe age 6 or something.
Does this sound reasonable? Do you think I will have trouble finding a dr. to go along with this type of schedule????
This vaccine stuff is getting me crazy
Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: If you modified your vaccine schedue...a few questions
DS gets 1 shot a month...more visits, but more piece of mind for me. If he is sick or has a cold, I skip the month. I will not vaccinate him when he is sick.
DS did not get the Hep shot in the hospital. Make sure you tell them when you get there and they will have you sign a waiver. He has gotten 1 Hep shot but being it is not as important as the DTap or some of the other shots I put the Hep boosters on hold for now.
DS does not get the flu shot and probably never will. I also do not plan on giving him the chicken pox vaccine until he needs it to go to school. His MMR shot will be delayed and broken up.
My ped. does not give the rotovirus vaccine. I did not intend on giving it to DS anyway.
I would suggest reading the Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears. It was very informative and helpful in explaining vaccines, what they are for, what's in them, etc.

Re: If you modified your vaccine schedue...a few questions
DD has received all of her vaccines plus the rotovirus except for the flu , mmr and varicella shot, otherwise the other vaccines have no bearings what so ever if you are concerned with autistm.
I do not believe vaccines cause autism but DH does so with this conflict that is why she did not get those particular vaccines until it is time for school.
she got her first hep B in the hospital and I am glad. this baby will get the same too.

This is what I am reading now and how I started coming up with my own modified schedule. It's a very informative book.
Thanks for sharing your info

Re: If you modified your vaccine schedue...a few questions
My current plan is to do everything on schedule then ask my ped to spread out the MMR and not give all 3 together. She will then come up with a plan as to how this changes his vaccine schedule. If I get a chance to research it, I might come up with a proposed plan of my own. We are not refusing any vaccines, for the moment. There was a good article in TIME magazine this past week. It was the cover story.
