If you run the humidifier every night for dc
has it damaged the wood furniture at all?
I usually only run it when they are sick, but Andy's dermatologist wants us to run it every night to help with his eczema. He has a small room, and I keep the door shut for fire safety. But I don't want to ruin the furniture with all the extra moisture.

Re: If you run the humidifier every night for dc
I run it every night with the door closed and nothing is ruined. I was afraid my border would start to come down, but it's been 2 winter's and it's still up!!
I put a hand towel underneath the unit and it's on her tall dresser.

YES!! The wallpaper started to peel and her crib has a little worn spot on it. I stopped using it and got a noise machine bc i just kept it on for white noise....

Re: If you run the humidifier every night for dc
I run it during the day & night in the winter/fall/spring. Most of the time the door is open (like 80% of the time). I do have it on a little old folding table with a towel underneath and there's been no damage. My old humidifier did leak and damage one of the tables though.

I use it every night with the door closed...I have it on the dresser and got a placemat to put underneath it. It has been fine with that under it.

Re: If you run the humidifier every night for dc
yes we have a warm mist humidifier on all night , I leave the dore open a little b/c it gets so warm in the room, but furniture looks fine, I did read a lot about humidifiers before we bought one and learned that it's better to use a warm air humidifier because you don’t get the mold and bacteria growth problems you see with the cold air humidifiers and it's better on furniture ,too. The only thing is that warm mist isn't as safe around toddlers, b/c it gets hot , so you would have to put it up high so they can't reach it.

Thanks everyone! Obviously I'm more concerned with his health, but I really like his dresser too.

Our furniture is fine, just make sure you don't have one that leaks..we are on #2 already because of that problem.

Re: If you run the humidifier every night for dc
I had the vicks one and felt it was affecting the furniture and always kept a towel under it. It broke early this winter and I got a different one and it is much better. We have it set up on a snack table right now next to the dresser and no ill effects. In my older son's room, I see the wallies (wall stickets) near it starting to come down but furniture looks fine!
