If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

How difficult was it to get used to the keyboard? I love my Blackberry, but am thinking it might be time to upgrade to the Iphone. My only concern is the keyboard...I really like the Blackberry keyboard and am concerned that I wont be able to get used to the touchscreen. I've used it a few times and always got frustrated. What has been your experience?

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

I had a blackberry for 2 yrs and loved it until re phone started crapping out on me. Switched to the iPhone in June and i don't know how I lived without this phone! The keyboard wasnt hard to get used to but it is different. The phone itself is so great that you don't mind accustoming to the keyboard.

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

I just switched and I honestly don't love it. I like the internet browsing on it better than the bberry, but right now, that is about all that I like better.

I find it really annoying to write emails on it. I miss the "trackball" that the bberry had. It is soooo hard to insert the mouse in the body of an email where I need to make a correction or insert. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I don't know.

I also HATE the auto correct feature. I turned it off, but that also turns off simple corrections like making Im "I'm". So annoying and frustrating.

Maybe I just need to give it more time, but I don't love it.

I also went from BB to iphone a few years ago and I will never look back, I bet you will feel this way eventually as well!As far as bringing the "mouse" to where you want it, just hold your finger down on the screen and it will magnify the area, from here you can slide your finger to anywhere you want it to be, very easy, hope I explained it well!

I still have a BB and will be going to the iPhone very soon. My BB is all touch screen now (the Storm), so I will not mind the transition. truthfully, it didn't take long at all to use the touch keyboard. I can use it as a full keyboard or a shortened one, depending on which position I type in (vertical or horizontal).

This! Word for word.

I'm still a fan of the BB but I'm iPhone all the way...

I switched for my personal phone and still have a BB for work. if i'm being honest, I miss having a keyboard. but the phone is so amazing that I wouldn't trade it back for anything!

You have to get used to not typing with your thumbs!

This is my fear as well...I e-mail a lot on my phone. I've had a BB for years but I am 99% getting the 4S this weekend. Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle to get used to!

I am switching from a BB Tour to the iPhone 4S and I'm a BB keyboard fanatic. I do have an Ipod Touch so I have some practice with that. I'll deal with the lack of a physical keyboard if it means getting rid of my BB. I'm SO OVER IT!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

I loved the BB keyboard and had the same reservations as you, but as a whole I like the iPhone a lot more.

It will take some time to get used to, but before you know it you won't know how you lived without the iPhone.

One drawback is that you can't edit your posts on here from an iPhone, so you have to be super careful when responding

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

Easy as pie.

Frankly I didn't want to give up my blackberry. I had no desire for the iPhone.

Then I hurt my thumb and was in a brace for 3 weeks. You can't type on the blackberry without a thumb.

I will never ever go back to blackberry. The iPhone was easy easy easy to get used to. It will take you about a week to get used to it. Once you do..,,,,,,,

All I can say is " visual voice mail".

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

I just switched from the BB Bold to iPhone - and I absolutely Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon it..I cant say enough wonderful things about Siri, iCloud and Visual Voice Mail.

The best part was asking Siri to locate the nearest UPS store when I was in a different neighborhood yesterday. It made life so much easier..

My biggest concern was losing BBM, but once I downloaded the "WhatsApp" app, I was able to keep in touch with all my friends who are on BB's. The touch screen keyboard is very easy to navigate. The only thing I would caution new iPhone users to be aware of is battery life. I haven't bought an extra charger for work and I'm already down to about 75% battery life even though iut was at 100% only 2 hours ago..Battery life isn't as great as I thought, but once I get another charger, I should be fine.

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

This is my issue.
Anytime I have tried my DH's touch screen I end up wanting to take the phone and throw it out the freakin' window!
I mess up all the time, hit the wrong keys, can't scroll around right to edit and it takes me twice the time to write a simple text.

I can't imagine using a touch screen for work purposes- sending long emails using a touch screen would drive me to fling the phone against the wall!

I plug mine into my work comp all day so I don't drain the battery listening to my ipod all day

Re: If you switched from the Blackberry to the Iphone

I just switched from the BB Torch to the iPhone. I knew I was going to be switching over, so I started testing myself on the BB touch screen (the Torch had both touch and keypad). The BB touch screen was a major PITA, but the iPhone touch pad is much more user-friendly. And if worse comes to worse, with the 4s you can use talk-to-text so no typing needed! Chat Icon
