if you use a bottle w/a liner-like playtex
how do you heat it up? and how do you store the formula?
I am freaked out about this bottle recall. I have the whole avent set plus extra bottles, nipples, warmer, sterilizer..
I'm thinking of returning it all now.

You don't have to warm formula or breast milk. If you use formula you can give it room temp and some people even give it cold.
I give DS room temp bottles b/c we don't have a microwave. I boil water, then let it cool off and put it in a pitcher for just DS (I just boiled water for tomorrow's bottles) and then I just pour into the bottles with formula and shake.
Also, I am not going to stop using my Avents, I don't heat them, so I am not going to stop using them.

I use the Playtex Drop Ins and warm up the bottle in a cup of hot water (just from the sink) for like 3 min. - basically just to take the chill out.

By the way, unless something changed in the last twelve hours that I haven't been on, the bottles were NOT recalled, they aren't even sure there IS a risk. Nothing has been pulled from shelves and they are still being sold.

I use drop in's and I don't warm bottles. She takes them cold or at room temp if I make them as I go.

you can do this in the beginning when the baby is a few months old but as the baby gets older you can just give them room temp or even cold. I give my DD room temp now, or if for some reason I put it inthe fridge I give it cold.

Re: if you use a bottle w/a liner-like playtex
I have a tall tupperware that I stick the bottle in and let warm/hot water run in the tupperware and the water goes up in to the drop in and warms up the formula. I never give DS his bottles warm, he doesnt like it that way. I just take the chill out. Babies dont need their bottles warm, they only get accustomed to it if that is how you give it to them.

We do the same thing. We also heat water in the microwave is DS is especially cranky for his bottle. We use ready to use formula.

I have Avent Tempo disposable liners - I feed DS with room temp formula.
The only time I "heat" it up is if it is an unfinished bottle from last feeding - but I just submerge it in hot water for a few minutes to get it back to something close to room temp.
