If you use formula (esp RTF) and prepare bottles....
How long in advance would you prepare bottles and feel ok about them? For ex, the container of RTF says use within 72 hours. So do you prepare bottles and still use them maybe the next day if you don't use them the same day? Would you keep them for th 72 hrs? KWIM? WDYD?

Re: If you use formula (esp RTF) and prepare bottles....
i have only used RTF once. i didn't use it all the first day, so i used it up the second day, it was gone within 48 hours but i would have been fine using it up intil 72 hours after i opened it as long as it was regrigerated.
as for powder formula, i make a day's worth of formula the night before, since it is good for 24 hours in the fridge.

I use RTF. We pretty much use a can a day so I prepare a days worth of bottle, or just leave the similac can in the fridge and pour a bottle as I need it. I would have no problem using it 72 hours later as that is what is recommended.

I used RTF and I would make a days worth of bottles but if for some reason, DS would not take one, yes, I used that bottle the next day.

That's what I mean. If you have the formula in another container (bottle) do you still use the 72 hr rule?
That's what I am asking I guess.

Yes, I only use RTF and put it in a pitcher in the fridge and make the bottles as I go. I would feel fine using it up to 72 hours after opening.

Re: If you use formula (esp RTF) and prepare bottles....
Yes, I have used it 24 hours later (assuming that it is within 72 hrs of the original bottle of RTF).
I think I set an arbitrary limit of 24 hrs in the bottle for some reason. So if I pre-made the bottles on Monday, I was okay giving it on Tuesday but not Wednesday. Totally arbitrary though.
DS never had problems.

Actually I just called Similac. They said that if its RTF in the container it came in, then 72 hrs. But if you put it into another container such as a bottle, they say 48 hrs.
Just an FYI. So I guess I will be ok with usign 2 tomorrow, 24 hrs from when I made them.
Thanks all.
