if you went to a bridal or baby shower...

would you expect to have unlimited beer? there would already be unlimited wine.

im currently trying to help out with a friend's baby shower and am helping my mother with my own bridal shower since my sis is MIA, and i see packages with unlimited wine.

would you think it'd look cheap to have soda, coffee, cappucino, and wine, but NO beer?

thanks

bridal shower, yes...baby shower maybe not..it depends on the time of day. Baby showers usually come with champagne punch or mimosas though.

Re: if you went to a bridal or baby shower...

If wine was offered to me at a shower I would have a glass

but I wouldn't ask for a glass only b/c i know not all pkgs include alcohol

But to answer your original question - I wouldn't expect unlimited beer or wine
and I don't think just wine is cheap -

Also if it is a brunch shower less people will drink anyway

same here... i think just wine would be TOTALLY fine. especially when you consider most baby and bridal showers are day time events, and more for women. i think, for the most part, women are more into wine than beer...

I would think it's a little odd for wine to be included but not beer. But then my friends and I are more beer drinkers then wine drinkers.

But I don't think it would look cheap to not have beer.

I've never seen beer at a bridal or baby shower - I did go to a baby shower where they had SOUTHERN COMFORTChat Icon Chat Icon

I would think anything offered at a bridal/baby shower is fine. If I was going to one, I would assume there would be soft drinks, water, probably a punch & wine. I think it's fine to forgo beer.

Re: if you went to a bridal or baby shower...

I would say, if you're going to offer wine, offer beer as well. Mabe just pitchers of what they have on tap (probably cheaper), but not everyone is a wine drinker. For my own bridal shower, I told my mother up front she needed to offer alcohol just to dull the pain. I know how boring they can be if you don't know that many people and you're not an immediate member of the family. JMO. If you don't know that many beer drinkiers, than stick with what you've got.

Re: if you went to a bridal or baby shower...

I've hosted a few bridal showers (no baby showers). I have always done unlimited champagne punch and then I just pay the bar tab and tip out the bartender. As long as the guests aren't paying, it doesn't matter if you go the "unlimited" route.

That being said, most women drive themselves to these things, so they're not drinking a ton. It has always ended up being MUCH more economical to pay the bar tab.

Hope that helps!!

I am not a big drinker to begin with, and I never drink during the day. I wouldn't miss it at all.

I don't think it's a problem not to have beer, unless you are inviting a lot of beer drinkers.

As Rooster suggested, running a tab for the items not covered in the basic package is a good way to go as well for a daytime party, especially a shower.

Most showers I have been to include a champagne punch or mimosas or something of the sort. For my sisters shower we just ran a tab so people could order whatever they want. Most people are fine with the punch and some ordered wine. It worked out really well.

Re: if you went to a bridal or baby shower...

Honestly, I don't really expect alcohol at showers at all. I like to drink on occasion, but not at showers. So no, I wouldn't expect unlimited beer nor would I miss it if it weren't there. I definitely don't think it would look cheap.

Me neither. I'd definitely leave it out unless it's a co-ed shower.

I havent either. If its beer, wine and soda, I always see women drink the wine and/or soda. Come to think of it, I'v never seen anyone drink beer at a shower.

If someone wants a beer real bad, they can either pay for it themselves or run a tab. But I highly doubt it will be a common request.

Before I give my opinion..I think the most important thing is the preference of your guests. If you know that some people expect it then it's worth considering.

With that said...no, I would not have it at either type of shower. I can't imagine grandma asking for a Bud and I have never been to a shower where it was offered. So for us it is not expected and might actually seem strange to most people there. Our family is more concerned with food...that is always the talk the day after. Chat Icon

Re: if you went to a bridal or baby shower...

For either shower, I don't see the point of beer. Most women are happy with soda & wine...If there were men attending, then definately beer!

I've never seen beer at a bridal or baby shower unless it was co-ed and at someone's house.

I choose to only have champagne punch, soda, juices at my shower (12-4) because I knew very few, if any, people were going to have beer or wine.
