if you were 13-16 years old...
would a class like this interest you?
i have to teach an elective in my synagogue's high school program
this is what i was thinking:
'songs of the soul' :exploring jewish and not-so-jewish music
i would have the kids bring in recordings of their favorite songs and the lyrics and then after playing the song, i would have them tell the class why this is their favorite song and what it means to them, etc and then we'd have a class disucussion.

i took a music theory class in hs and we did this - it was really fun and we learned a lot about each other .

I wouldhave loved that!
As the teacher, I would be concerned about what some of the kids are going to bring in! 
I don't know if this is along the same lines, but once in college a student did a project on jewish culture and he brought in music by The Who (specifically Baba O'Reilly) and compared it with Klezmer music and showed that Klezmer music has had an impact on popular music. That was sort of interesting!
