If you were offered a

job that paid pretty well but it was in a basement of an office building would you want to work there? Some people would be able to handle absolutely no sunlight. For me, I think it would bother me. What do you guys think?

I use to work in a setting exactly like this. Wasn't ideal but I got use to it.
But they were good about taking breaks whenever needed. So I would head up to the main lobby or walk around the parking lot a few times a day.

Wouldn't bother me. The area I sit at work has no windows so very often I do not see the light of day when I decide to work out of the office.

Taking breaks to go outside does help. We all should do that anyways if we can!

At my job I worked in the basement for a little over 2 years. They just moved us into an out building but I still only have 1 tiny window up here that doesn't open.

ditto, my dept is in the center of a huge building and all the windows that are on the outside are in the corporate/executive offices.

Re: If you were offered a

Definitely! Before we moved locations, our office was on the lower level and had no windows. Don't get me wrong, it's much nicer with windows and natural light but it's not a necessity.

Im a teacher and iI have always worked on the third floor with lots of sunlight. Last month I had to move my classroom to an empty classroom in the basement because they are redoing my classroom..I am miserable in the basement. It's a much bigger room but I hate not having windows and sunlight!! I go up for lunch and dread going back down..lol but I am 8 months pregnant so that could be it tooChat Icon

Ditto... when i worked in the Arena we were technically on the 1st floor but we were in the bowels of the garden and i had to walk down the hallway to see daylight...

i also used to work for a mailroom which was in the basement

I worked in radio for a while and most studios that I've been in are windowless. Never thought about it before but it didn't bother me.

Yes I have done it & now I work in a hospital setting that is windowless. I don't see the daylight from 7:30 to 4 pm.

Re: If you were offered a

if the pay is that tempting, do it. and decorate your office/cubicle/work area with great, huge photos of landscape, sunshine, or beaches! Chat Icon

and of course, take breaks and get some of the real stuff when you can.

Re: If you were offered a

I work in the middle of my building, and during the shortest days of the winter, I can go a few days without ever seeing the sun.... so working in a basement wouldn't bother me at all.
