If you were Spitzer's wife, would you be able to "stand by your man"?
I dont get how all these politicians wives like Clinton, McGreevey and now Spitzer (and I am sure there are others) stand by their side, literally, through all of this. I know they have to play the part, but if I were Spitzer's wife there is no way I would be standing next to him while he is saying he's sorry for f*cking a whore. Like Simon Cowell says "Sorry". I am not going to play the good wife just to help make you look good after you brought shame to my family and especially my children.

Re: If you were Spitzer's wife, would you be able to "stand by your man"?
From the reports on the news this morning. She said she will uphold her marriage vows even though he didn't.
If I choose to stay, I don't think I would have stood next to him to help make him look better. He already looked like an a$$, me standing next to him would not have helped his case any.
I would most likey have stayed home with my daughters and dealt with it privately.
BUT again, one never knows how they would handle anything until they're in it.

Re: If you were Spitzer's wife, would you be able to "stand by your man"?
DH spent 2 years telling me lots of lies about money and his employment. He caused my credit to be ruined and made me drain my savings. The good news (if there can be) is that we only lost 2 friends. Was he wrong? Absolutely. He has apologized over and over again. He had depression and didn't know it. He is recovering and he is doing so much better and making up for how he treated me. The vows say for better or for worse. Will I ever forget what my husband did? No but I have to forgive him and I have. We're taking things one day at a time.

Nope, not for one second. Even having kids together, NO!

Re: If you were Spitzer's wife, would you be able to "stand by your man"?
I don't think you can make that decision unless god forbid it happened to you. My Dh and I have been through some times in the past before marriage and everything we said went out the window when it actually happened.
I totally think clinton stood by her man for political reasons-she knew back then she wanted to run for senate and then president. It was in her best interest to remain close with him.

Same here. I can say this because I have set certain standards for myself. I have my do's and dont's when it comes to my marriage. Dh and I knows how each other feels about infidelities and such.

I don't know how I would react. It's one to have it done privately and find out, and it's another when she's forced in the spotlight and people are questioning her motives for staying.
One - we have no idea what is going on behind closed doors btw them with their family.
Two - Personally, as livid as I would be that he broke the wedding vows, I'd want to see why, and if after all that communicating nothing was fixed, then I'd move on and say good bye!

Re: If you were Spitzer's wife, would you be able to "stand by your man"?
I think not. From what i read he apparently did not like to be safe in these encounters with the prostitutes. I would be so friggen ****** if my husband was still sleeping with me, while doing it (or trying to do it) unsafe with a prostitute who has god knows what.
So taking away all the fidelity issues and what not, I could not get past that. And there is not a chance in hell I would sit up there and stand by him.

Re: If you were Spitzer's wife, would you be able to "stand by your man"?
absolutely not. if he disgraced our vows like that then what's the point of maintaining the marriage. there is no marriage.
