If you were still suffering from morning sickness, would you still go on a family caribbean vacation?
I'm still throwing up daily and feeling pretty miserable. However, I do have a few hours a day that I feel normal. Our friend has a time share in Mexico and invited us. the hotel portion would be free or close to it.
How hard is it to travel with a toddler while being pregnant?
I'm wondering if it's worth it to just feel sick in nice weather.
Would you go even if you were still throwing up?

I think I would. I'm not in your shoes and with my pregnany I really didn't get sick. I went to Aruba when I was prego and it was amazing. Soo relaxing and fun. Totally needed it.
It may be a while till you get a chance like this after the baby is born to go away. Is your DH going or getting any other help in case you're out of it for a day and someone can keep your toddler occupied?

DH would definitely be coming with us.
We didn't go to a trip to disney last month when DH had a conference in Orlando. I'm still a bit bummed about that one. I was looking forward to taking DS to Disney.

Re: If you were still suffering from morning sickness, would you still go on a family caribbean vacation?
Caribbean yes.
Mexico - NO.
I've been to Mexico a number of times but I would be very wary if I were pregnant. Several people from my trip were hospitalized with stomach issues & dehyrdation when they ate off the compound.
I worked for a few months in a remote Mexican village. We took PeptoBismo tablets daily while there. The one day I missed it was the day I came down with "montezuma's revenge" & spent the day & night in the bathroom.
Also given the travel warnings put out by the Department of State, I would be even more wary depending on the location of where you were going.

I just remembered with my first pregnancy, I was told to avoid traveling outside the country if I didn't have to. I didn't even think to ask my new obgyn since we had no upcoming travel plans.
Sigh. Maybe we should just stay put.

Please, please, PLEASE ask your OB about Zofran. I took Zofran for all 34 weeks of MS with both of my kids. It was my savior. It made me feel NORMAL again.
Both of my kids are healthy and happy as can be.
There's no reason for you to suffer...especially with a vacation at stake!

having btdt, i could barely travel to WORK, i certainly wouldn't be able to handle airport/flight without hurling.
eta: zofran helps, but didn't even come close to curing me. i was on it from 7 wks through 37wks and it did cut back the puking (from about 17-20x a day to 8-10x a day), but didn't stop it. And it didn't lessen the constant feeling of nausea either.

Yup, I would skip Mexico. I skimmed through and was thinking Caribbean. I would go there, but not Mexico.

I have been prescribed both zofran and reglan. Reglan was working for me for a while but isn't anymore.

It would be the caribbean portion of Mexico? I didn't get much details from my friend yet. My first instinct was not to go.

Silly question, but I'm wondering if you tried this...did you try taking it an hour or more before getting out of bed in the morning?
That's the only way the Zofran worked for me. I kept the pills by my bedside, set my alarm for 2 hours before I had to wake up, had my pill and water waiting, and then I'd go back to sleep. It worked wonderfully for me.
With my first pregnancy, my poor DH finally bought a mini-fridge to keep in our bedroom because I could only take my pill with milk . Water made me gag! But it worked, and now we use the fridge for DD's milk in the morning
Just wondering if you tried it that way, because none of the typical MS remedies (ginger snaps, saltines before getting up, preggie pops, etc.) worked for me. And I know how awful it is to feel as though you're just going to feel miserable forever

Between my last pregnancy and this one, I feel I have tried everything under the sun. I think I am just one of those unfortunate women who is sick throughout the entire pregnancy. At least this time around, I know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I would probably go but I haven't had REALLY bad morning sickness just the terrible nausea. Maybe your dr. can give you Zofran for the trip?

I had horrible morning sickness with DS and cancelled a cruise. I think with all the travel warnings for Mexico I would cancel sorry.

I went to atlantis when I was 4 months and very sick. I could barely eat, but it was so nice to go away ( I didnt' bring my older DS, that I would not have been able to handle) we went to 2 nice places for dinner (bc i felt fine) but once the food came, I got so sick. total waste of money , don't order anything or go to any pricey restaurants
I was on zofran the whole time too

I went to Disneyland when I was pg with DD#2. I threw up every single day. But I still had a blast with DH and DD#1.

Re: If you were still suffering from morning sickness, would you still go on a family caribbean vacation?
I had hyperemisis which is 1 million times worse than ordinary morning sickness. I was hooked up to an IV 24/7 getting pumped with liquids and Zofran throughout my entire pregnancy and *I* went on a cruise. I figured how much worse could I feel I will be honest. I felt my BEST while on the cruise. Go. Enjoy!
ETA: cruise was booked before I found out I was pregnant. I was miserable but was not going to let hyperemisis take away my cruise

Re: If you were still suffering from morning sickness, would you still go on a family caribbean vacation?
I wouldnt. I had horrible morning sickness 24/7 for the first 2 trimesters of my pregnancy. I was so miserable. I remember going into the city for the day to see the tree and have dinner, etc. when I still had m/s and I couldnt enjoy myself at all. I felt horrible and sitting in front of the food at dinner just made it worse.
Everyone is different, but for me, it would be a big waste of money if I couldnt even enjoy myself on the trip.
