It depends on what you mean by "any" measure. If it was going to hurt the people I love, then I would try to find an alternative.

i think it would depend. often a drastic change in lifestyle can cause one to become more depressed and disoriented.

Re: If you were unhappy

Yes, I would do what it takes to be happy with myself and my life. If it hurts those around me, I think I would weigh out my options first and come to a determination.

Re: If you were unhappy

I guess it depends on what the complete happiness was....hurting someone I love in my family may not be worth it, but breaking up with someone to make myself happier would be....

Re: If you were unhappy

ABSOLUTELY. Even if I did not have an instant solution I'd set the wheels in motion for a long-term solution.

Well, that might be different. What I meant was doing something that was selfish, but hurtful.

I'm not sure if this is the best example, but:

If a woman was unhappy in her marriage and decided to have affairs, that would be hurtful to her husband. If a woman leaves her husband because she knows it's never going to work, that is different. It's hurtful but more honorable than cheating. I think a lot of people do destructive and hurtful things, then use unhappiness as their justification. I think whenever other people are involved. there's a way to minimize the hurt that others may feel.

I would do whatever made me happy-of course I would also weigh out the options and make a decision that was best for me.. I also believe that you need to make yourself happy b/c life is too short!!

Re: If you were unhappy

I think you definitely need to be happy, as long as you do not intentionally hurt anyone, you need to look out for yourself first ...IMO

Re: If you were unhappy

I would..Like Beth said, Life is WAY to short to live this precious time unhappy...I was very unhappy in my marriage and it took a lot of courage for me to speak up and ask to go to counceling, especially to a man who laughed at me when I said the word therapist...Needless to say it did not work and we had to come to the decision that we should split...eventhough we had a child. I did not want my son to grow up in an unhappy household with yelling and cheating (if it ever came to that) and thinking that this is what life is supposed to be like.

As far as cheating....I would just end it first, I cannot intentionally hurt someone like that.

Re: If you were unhappy

I think your own personal happiness is important. As long as you aren't hurting anyone else. Then again, sometimes you have to hurt (not physically) people in order to be happy.
