If your child has reflux...
Do they spit up a while after they eat, or right as they are done with the bottle? Trying to figure out what spitting up episodes are true reflux, and what ones are just he ate too fast or too much. I am assuming if he spits up while/right after eating, he ate too fast or too much. What are your experiences? TIA

Re: If your child has reflux...
DD had reflux and she would just keep spitting up from one feeding until the next. They consider spitting up an hour or more after feeding a sign of reflux, so I guess anything before that could be from eating too much or too fast. There were days when I didn't think that she kept anything down
After we started Axid it got much better though and she was able to go off it when she hit 9 months.

Re: If your child has reflux...
All my kids have been spitters...some worse than others. DS is the only one that has been diagnosed with mild reflux. I knew there was an issue with him b/c you simply could not lay him down flat for the first couple of months. It was very uncomfortable for him.

My son threw up during feedings and in between feedings -- and a lot!! He still suffers from reflux at 18 months, but not nearly as bad. We still have him on Alimentum for that reason though. He has a very extreme case. Axid did not help us.

Re: If your child has reflux...
Vincent had reflux really bad. Projectile vomit all day long, in between feedings, during feedings, after feedings. The Axid made him less irritable, but didn't help the puking. He grew completely out of it by 6-7 months.

Re: If your child has reflux...
My DS has reflux. He spits up before, during and after feedings. Well, not all of those all the time but there is not a time that is much worse. He is slightly worse after a bottle but we keep him upright for a while and it helps. Burping is painful and he cries before and after a burp. Axid is helping, though. He usually is able to lie flat to go to sleep, so we are lucky.
