If your DC 1st birthday party
didn't fall on the actual day of their birthday
what did you do the day of their actual birthday?
And if you haven't gotten to their 1st birthday yet - what do you plan on doing?

We'll probably have our parents and siblings over on his actual b-day for pizza and a small cake and then have a party with extended party on a weekend.

We had DD's party the weekend before her party. IL's were in town for that and her actual birthday. On her birthday we ordered pizza and had ice cream cake and did family birthday presents that day. My mom and BIL and SIL were here also.

we had a family party on the weekend and on his actual birthday i had a play date at my house with his "friends." after my DH got home from work we had cupcakes and sang happy birthday!

DD's birthday is May 2nd, her party is May 5th.
I am getting a cupcakes and inviting over family to celebrate her actual birthday that evening.
ETA: We are doing a backyard BBQ in my IL's backyard about 40 close family and friends.

Well DS's birthday is on a Monday June 4th. So his party is on Saturday June 2nd.
For the actual day of his birthday we plan on going to the zoo (if the weather permits) Then we'll do a little cake for him at home. My MIL is sleeping over that weekend so she'll be with us on Monday. So we figure in the evening we'll do a little cake for him. My parents, my brother and his wife and son all live next door so they'll join us.

DS's birthday falls on a Monday and his party is the day before. On his actual b-day DH and I are taking the day off and just spend the whole day just the three of us. I am not sure what we are doing yet, but the zoo sounds like a good idea.

We had the b-day party the first Saturday after the real date. We did it in our house. For his real b-day, I just baked a cake and gave him presents and celebrated the 3 of us (me, DH and DS).

I took off and I will just hang out with him all day
And then that night maybe we will go out to dinner or have the grandparents over for some cake
His party is the next day.

We just celebrate on the nearest weekend. We have other friends and family with DC b-days around the same time, so sometimes we adjust the party based on the other parties around the same time. B-days are an arbitrary date anyway (both DC were C-section, so the Dr determined the b-day, not the baby), so we don't put a huge emphasis on the actual day, just as long as it's close.

We are having the "BIG" party the weekend before their birthday, (which falls on a Thursday.) On the actual day, we will probably do something as a family, then have the grandparents and close family members over for a BBQ or pizza and cake.

Last year Julia's b-day was on a friday, and her party was on saturday, we just took her out to dinner with my IL's and my parents, then had her party with the rest of family and friends the next day.

We actually plan the boys' parties on days other than their actual birthdays so we can have a "special" family day.
For DS#1's 1st we went to the Bronx Zoo, for his 2nd we went to the Riverhead Aquarium and for his 3rd we went to his first Yankees game. This year we may go to a Ducks game (we're letting him decide now).
We spent DS#2's 1st birthday at Sesame Place. This year and we're going to the Please Touch Museum and spending the day in Philly (we'll go to Sesame Place the next day).

Our daughter's actual birthday was a thursday and we just had a small cake and special dinner for the three of us...it was really nice and then we had a bigger party for family and friends on the saturday following that.

We took her to the LI Children's Museum w/ her Godmother & her daughter.
It was fun!
Then we all went to lunch & had b-day cake.

DD's birthday was 4/14 (Sat). We had a party 4/15 (Sun).
On her b-day, she and I went out for breakfast while DH woke up and got himself ready to get out of the house. Then I got my eyebrows waxed (very exciting for Jordana- I know). We then went to Central Park and took a walk and went on the swings. Then we went to lunch. Alan Alda was there and he didn't mind Jordana's squealing through his lunch. Then we hit Children's Museum and then home where mommy and daddy put up their feet, ordered in and rented a movie after the birthday girl went to sleep.

DD's 1st is May 6th, a Sunday. DS's 3rd is May 9th. We have having their party the following weekend. The actual days of their b-day, we want to just spend the day with them, as a family. maybe take them to the park, or even the zoo or Aquarium.

Mine was the day before her bday.. and it was a kiddie party and then a family party.. On her actual bday I had our friends over and we had pizza and cake.. she loved it..
