If your DS liked to play dress up

DS love to dress up as different super heros, Star Wars, army, etc. We were just curious roughly how long this phase lasts, someone this weekend told us it's "weird" at his age.

TIA!

Weird? No! My godson (who is 4) loves to play dress-up (pirate, fireman, etc.)

I took DS (who is also 4) to a party place that was pretty "girly" (heavy on the princess theme) and several of the boys were loving the dress up options (superheroes, polioceman, etc.) These kids were 4 as well. (DS has no interest in dress up...c'la vie!)

Whoever said it was weird is the one who is weird! JMO!Chat Icon

I don't think it's weird at all for a 5 year old to dress up. I think whomever told you that is weird Chat Icon

They're crazy. It's not weird at all. He's a child, doing things a child should be doing. Perfectly fine!

My son loved to dress up from about age three until maybe 5 and a half. I thought it was weird and a bit sad when he gave it up. He still loves halloween and will wear his costume quite a few times after it, but he does not really choose to dress up much...only occasionally. He is now 7.

When I taught Kindergarten all the boys loved to dress up in the house center. Where do you guys buy dress up clothes for your boys? We have a few things-firefighter, doctor, cowboy, but there isn't much of a selection.

DD is 5 and loves her costumes. At least once a week she asks to wear her costume to school.

Not weird at all. The past year, I went downstairs to find every one of ds's friends in everything from army to astronaut helments.

They were 9.

The after halloween clearances are a great time to stock up on costumes for the dress up bin.

Re: If your DS liked to play dress up

My nephew is always someone.. and he will be 6 in September.. apparently my BIL was the same lol he is currently Indiana Jones.. he walks around with that messenger bag, hat, whip and a map her made and he is always throwing himself everywhere

I think imagination is a beautiful thing in a child.. I'd just tell whoever told you that your kid is weird to STFU to be honest. God, I hate people

Re: If your DS liked to play dress up

Noah is 8 and still will dig into the costume chest from time to time. At 10 Robbie is mostly over it - but he will dress up to put on a play or something on occasion. If there are a lot of kids over they will sometimes dig out the wigs and outfits for battle and whatnot. I find nothing wrong with creative play at most ages.

Love this! The other day I walked into my son's preschool room to find him and his three friends in firefighter hats, sparkly dresses and high heels. It made perfect sense to them to be putting out fires in that costume! Chat Icon I will be sad once he outgrows this stage-they grow up way too soon anyway!
