Re: If your home does not have a basement...

Hey Tara - what area are you looking at? Nearby?

We don't have a basement. I miss it for two reasons.

1st, I have a lot of stuff and a split level attic isn't a "full attic" its just on the top level. My crawl space is scary. The garage is packed and my husbands car takes up a lot of room.

2nd, I made the mistake of telling my husband our den could be his man's room and its now lined with posters of every sport he is intersted in and every team on the planet. It's crazy town. I wish it were "downstairs."

If we ever move, I want a basement again!

Re: If your home does not have a basement...

Growing up we always had basements. Where I live now (Portland OR) the newer homes, which DH bought are not built with basements. Do I wish I had one? Yes. Do I get buy w/o it? Yes. I have a small crawl space and a 2 car garage so I have storage there. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me tho since Ive been able to get buy w/o it.

I'm thinking Bergen County, though the taxes are awful and the neighborhoods we can afford and have good schools have small houses, little land, etc. My dream is Wyckoff but it doesn't look like that can happen. Plus, we gotta sell this house first.

LOL...I know, it feels like forever and day! :)

I'm biased because our town is the lowest taxes in all of Passaic, thanks to a great mayor, but when I see the difference it's major! :) But...Bergen is nice and you are closer to the Island!

I'd say keep your eyes open and see what areas might work. But get a basement! LOL.

Good luck on the sell! :)
