If your insurance covers a breast pump

When did you contact Edgepark to order it? How far along were you?

Re: If your insurance covers a breast pump

how do you know which breast pump is covered? Did they let you choose or send one automatically?

eta: for the ladies who received one already, which model did you get?

Wow, I never knew it may be covered by ins. co.!

I got the manual Medela one free from the hospital just by asking, and got a used Ameda Purely Yours one for $80 from another mom.

When I had DD I got the medela freestyle totally free. They told me which ones they had and it was my choice.

Will your insurance cover you for a second breastpump? I have the Freestyle also and I intend to use it again, just get new tubing.

ETA: my insurance didn't cover me for anything though; we paid for our own pump.

by "they" do you mean the insurance company or the medical supplier?

Sorry for hijacking! I've actually been trying to get this done today and not getting a clear direction. My coworkers got their free so I know it's covered but they don't remember what they did or who they talked to.

My insurance told me to contact the med supplier and the med supplier wasn't able to tell me which one is covered. Basically they said to pick one and then they'll verify it with the insurance but I don't want to pick one too cheap and be jipped or too expensive and have to pay a difference or be denied.

Pick the Freestyle! It's usually just the breastpump in general that needs to be approved, so far I haven't heard of them having a price limit.

If for any reason they deny the Freestyle, then you can try for the Pump in Style, but seriously the Freestyle is great! I'd 100% ask for that one first.

They being Edgepark. I called, ordered the Freestyle, they verified it would be covered 100pct and then shipped it to me.

That's what they told me. We'll see. I wasn't successful with BF'ing C so I got rid of it. Wasn't expecting #3 so soon Chat Icon. Figured I'd give it a try. If they say no then I will get one somewhere else.

Re: If your insurance covers a breast pump
