if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
my kids will be 16 months apart when comes in november. i've been reading all the posts about double strollers, but most are reviews from moms whose first born are significantly older than the second--mine will just barely be a toddler!
i have a graco metrolite for right now. it does the job. i'm not a jogger or a serious walker--it's mainly for the mall, short walks, etc. i'm sure there are much better strollers out there, but i can't spend $600 for a stroller.
i bought the graco duoglider that matches the stroller i have because they're discontinuing it. i figure i have 3 months to figure out if i need it or i can return it.
for those of you whole first child is barely walking when the second came, what did you get? DS isn't really walking yet and will probably be toddling when his sister arrives. so something like a sit and stand wouldn't work.
any suggestions? i've been researching for weeks and feel like i haven't gotten anywhere!
duoglider i purchased as a "just in case"

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
When I babysat for a family that had a 15 month and then they had another baby, I used the duo glider. It was easy to use and I was able to put the infant seat in either the front or back seat. I found it easy to steer and never had a problem with it. I used it for them until they were 3 and 2 years old. I even used it for another family who had a 3 year old and 5 year old. I liked it better then the side by side.

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
I've been researching this myself, no personal experience yet, since I just found out I am pregnant with #2. DS and the new baby will be about 14-15 months apart.
We looked today in baby r us, because I'm contemplating if I should get tandum, or side by side. From reviews I've been reading, the duoglide doesn't hold up very well and seems to not be so good. I was looking today at the Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller - Bombay. It was actually pretty good moving and such, but is about 47 lbs. I think we will be going for this one, so we can use the infant car seat in the stroller. And then we will upgrade to the side by side baby city mini jogger, but thats just soo much $$$$, but honestly I was playing with that today and it seriously looks soo worth it!

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
My girls were 14 months apart. My oldest had been walking for 5 months before my second DD was born so we didn't use a double stroller often.
We were given an Evenflo double strooler that was huge. It was hard to puch and turning was really hard. I called it the bus
Here is what it looked like coming home from the hospital:
we used it a few months and I couldn't stand it anymore so I got rid of it.
Since my older DD wanted to walk most of the time I didn't want to spend money on another double. So we bought two cheap umbrella strollers and got those clips that hook them together and it worked well for us:
Sorry, I am not much help, just wanted you to avoid the Evenflo double that I had

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
thank you so much for the replies!
i have the snugride infant seat, so i'd like to be able to use that and not have to buy another since we already have 3 bases!
i definitely want front to back because i've read how hard the side by sides are to move.
would it be worth using the duoglider while #2 is in the infant seat and then upgrading to a different brand? that way both kids can sit upright.

I have no advice, but I just saw someone with the Duoglider today at lunch and it looked nice. I also love how Graco's have big, accessible baskets.

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
I saw a 60/40 stroller aat BRU a few weeks ago. One side was slightly larger than the other. At first I thought it was a great idea, then I thought maybe it would be impractical after a short time. I dont know if you'd be interested in something like that. I think the 40 side you can put a car seat in.

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
My kids are 17 months apart and we had a Maclaren double. I was not fond of the tandems. IMO they are hard to steer and manuever and are very heavy.
A popular misconception with side by sides is that they don't fit through doorways... but they do.

i'm not worried about doorways--more like stores. i can't even fit through gymboree with my regular stroller! children's place is no better.

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
Mine are 16 months apart. Started with a Duoglider but I HATED it. When DD was almost 2 I got a Sit N Stand that I loved. If it were me I'd get that Sit N Stand that has the removable seat.

I think the duoglider is the way to go for now. Once you get a feel for how things will work, you may decide you want something else.

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
I have the duoglider, a Maclaren twin, and a Baby Jogger Performance series double. I feel like I "need" them all. The duoglider was great in the beginning and it still really nice for the mall, especially Macys, where the space between the racks of clothes isn't very big. The Maclaren is good for most stores too, and for running into places. The Baby Jogger is my running stroller, so I really appreciate that one. I would stick with the duoglider to start, and you can always add to your collection as you need it.

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
Cindy (sweetcin) has some kind of sit and stand and it has a seat in the front and a place for the infant seat and I think part of it comes out so the older baby can stand when they get older lol.
maybe fm her?

Re: if your kids are about 16 months apart...what double stroller????
mine are 24 m apart, but just wanted to add...I didn't like the tandum (we at the sit an stand delux) it was SO heavy and hard to use. I also didn't like that DS#1 was in the back and couldn't see out.
the best baby purchase I ever made was the Bob Duallie Revolution. I did use it for jogging, but I used it for carting them around way more (they are too heavy for me to run with them now) DH loves it too. We have taken it to many amusement parks and on every vacation. definitely worth the money.

mine will be 13 months apart as well, and i have talked to at least 4 women in the last 2 weeks that have this stroller and LOVE it..
just so you know, it does have an infant attachment, and it fits the graco sungride carseat (which is what i have)..its 400 at BBB, but with a coupon and maybe a sale i bet we can get it for 350 or so..im also gonna look on Albeebaby.com for it..
i tried it out and LOVED the feel of it.
