If your kids' birthdays are close together, do you throw joint birthday parties?

My sons' birthdays are just 1 day apart. This year we are doing a combo party. I did this mostly because we just moved and I didn't think our new friends would want to attend 2 separate parties. I think I will do 2 separate parties in the future.

I also vow never to do a home party again. Sooooooooooooo much work!

My boys are 8 weeks apart but summer birthdays. We decided it was best to do combined parties until they have their own group of friends. Plus we find with them so close they are into the same "themes"

I have for family so far. My kids are May 6th and May 9th, and that time of year is super busy anyway, so having to do 2 parties is crazy. The kids are older now and don't care at all!

DH and his sister are 1 week apart and my MIL always gave them separate parties. Not sure if she did that when they were real little.

I think when they're real young you can do joint and when they're older with separate friends I'd do separate parties. This way they can enjoy their own bday.

My boys are a month apart and both in the summer. WE're having separate parties for now. We'll see how that goes in a few years Chat Icon

I do have one party being they are triplets but when they get older I will let them decide...This year they will be 3 in July and we will have a party in the yard again...I try not to do a theme...instead I get a small cake for each of them with what they like....my DS is all about the movie Cars , one DD is Minnie and the other Princess so I get a few balloons for each kid and plates and stuff to match up....its tough bc I want them to be individuals but I cant do 3 separate parties right now that would be insane......

So cute how they all like something different.

I would think with twins/triplets you would definitely do joint parties.

The younger one's birthday is earlier than the older one.

Older one could not understand why his younger brother's birthday was first since he is the older one.

In the future, I'm not going to talk about birthdays at all until the day of the party. They can just show up like the other guests.

DD's birthday is combined with her first and second cousin
She is July
her first cousin is august 18
second cousin is august as well

They range in age from 2-12 this year. . . they love having a joint party - us three moms just split food, we have it in my backyard and the decorations we just do girly stuff (nothing babyish bc of the oldest) and its a great day for hte family!

i will do this for as long as we can!

ETA: i havent been included yet - her first party i did a separate one but will start this year. . .the other two girls have already been splitting it. . . just realized the way i wrote it sounded like i did it already lol

Other than the 1st birthday, we're doing joint birthdays until they're older and want their friends party. Then we'll probably go back to seperate parties.

Mine are both born in the month of June so that's crazy as it is.

Re: If your kids' birthdays are close together, do you throw joint birthday parties?

My girls share the same birthday but are 3 years apart. The first year, I did a combined party at home (we usually do BBQ party for family at home)...but since last year was the first year my oldest was in preschool, I also did a separate party for her at a gymnastics place for her friends and our friends' kids.

This year, she turns 5 & my little one turns 2. We are doing a joint carousel party at Nunley's for them (almost 4 weeks before their birthday)...and also a joint small family party at home the weekend right after their birthdays.
