If your PG and your child needs a nebulizer?
My DD needed her nebulizer tonight and as I sat there getting "second hand" albuterol... I started wondering if this is bad for the baby I'm pregnant with. I forgot to ask my OB yesterday and DD was wheezing and coughing bad so I couldn't wait.
Anyone know?

I'm an asthmatic and take an albuterol inhalor as needed as a nebulizer when I'm really bad.....
You really don't get very much of teh medication "second hand" by being near the neb......
Ask your MD but I'm sure its not a problem!

funny you posted this....I think about this often. I am not PG yet, but always wonder if there is any effect on me doing this atleast twice a day with child on my lap.

DS needed a nebulizer a couple of weeks ago for bronchitis. I'm almost 5 mos pregnant and asked my OB and primary and both said it would be okay.

I don't think it is a problem. When I was really sick in the first trimester..The doctor gave me a neb treatment.

I don't think 'second hand albuterol' is like second hand smoke ........
Regardless, I have asthma and use the nebulizer myself when necessary - Dr. said it was fine. -

My son is on pulmicort daily and I asked the pulmonolgist about this. He told me it was fine bc you would really barely get anything so not to worry!
