If you're DC has speech services in school ....
When are they taken out of class? Do they miss "specials" like art, music, gym, etc?

They are not allowed to miss specials. They will be taken out of classroom time.

My dd had speech in kindergarten. She did not miss any weekly nor any one off specials either. Speech was during free choice, which was, drawing, playing with the doll house, kitchen, reading, coloring, board games, or general play time. She did not miss math, reading, writing, or science either.

In my district it can be any time other than special areas and lunch/recess.
