We are supposed to be on one right now, but they wanted full price for DS who just turned 10 months. I can't see paying that for him. He doesn't eat table food (allergies), he won't be allowed in any of the kid camps, he wouldn't be doing much of anything. To charge full price for an infant blows my mind and there is no way we would have done it... JMO

Kids or anyone from 0-100 get charged for a 3rd person so it is almost always half the full price. What cruiseline was charging full price?

If there is only one person plus a child in the room (this is happening to my sister and her DD) you have to pay for 2 full price passengers on Carnival.

It was Carnival. My friend called and she was told full price. I called and I was told the same thing. It would have been me, hubby, and DS...I still can't see paying over 300 dollars for my son. But thats just me. If he was older and could participate more, then I would have no problem with it...

Really weirdChat Icon We are not paying full price for either child on Carnival and we didn't last time either. I think we paid around $400 or $500 for each. My kids eat all the food and we didn't pay for airfare so it was worth it for us but it all depends on what is best for you.Chat Icon

We paid DD as a 3rd person charge which was almost full price..
Also something we did was we went with 5 adults and DD...we got three rooms, and we put DD on as being in a room with me and DH in a room with his SIL...on paper only it worked out cheaper that way for some reason

We are going on a Carnival Cruise in Feb with my entire family. Jack will be 3.5 and Tyler will be 18 months. I agree with the others, get a balcony for sure. Go, and have a great time! Chat Icon

We literally went when DD was 18 mos old..we went on one that left from NY a Princess one...I would go again in a heartbeat!!!! I would rather do royal caribbean next time around as I wasn't crazy about princess..We had a balcony room, we knew DD would not sleep in the pack n play they gave us so she slept with us...it was fine..we were barely in the room..DD had the best time than anyone on the trip..we did have help we had my in laws who would baby sit at night when we would go down to the casino etc...but I would recommend it to anyone...I loved that we didn't have to fly...DD would nap poolside in her stroller or when we were out at port..it was really great, I can't say enough about it..

They were annoying a bit about her being in the pool but she was in the pool..she is semi trained which means she will tell us when seh needs to go and I also know the times she needs to go...we became friendly with a couple that had a baby around the same age as well and they brought a tiny little blow up pool that the kids would play in...there was also a kiddie pool totally isolated on one of the decks no one knew about that we used without a problem at alll....feel free to FM me with any questions

Sounds like you had a great time!! We may take our in-laws as well so they would be a huge help. Great idea about bringing a small blow up pool.

I was going to bring a blow up pool but I am so stupid and couldn't figure out how to fill it up and then how to dump the water out. I just did other things with him insteadChat Icon

What we did was take the water out of the pool or hot tub and fill the blow up pool with it, the staff gave us a huge pitcher we could useChat Icon

DH and I talked about it last night and he really wants to go on RCCL (he loved it when we went a few years ago). Anyone else with experience on RCCL with kids under 2???

Re: If you've gone on a CRUISE with your child under 2 years old, tell me honestly....

We went on RCCL when DD was 13 months old. (she is 22 months now)

It was a family cruise for my FIL's 60th birthday and it was the whole family. Overall we had a good time. That said looking back I don't know if I would do it again on RCCL w/a baby/toddler under 2.

As others mentioned:
-The baby could not go in any of the pools.
-There were an extremely limited number of activities for DD.
-We had a balcony which was totally needed.
-Thank goodness DD wasn't walking yet, it was hard enough keeping track of her without her running in all directions.
-We did have a babysitter every night, which was a huge win. (We arranged for her with RCCL and the girl, who also worked on the boat, was terrific!)
-The blow up pool is a great idea and I would recommend bringing it along.

I think if I was to do it again, I would only do it if I could bring a babysitter/nanny with me. Granted that would be a huge expense, but honestly it was really tough to enjoy the RCCL cruise with a little one.

I know it is expensive but RCCL does have 2 new boats - Oasis and Allure - that have full time daycare, even for baby/toddlers. That is something I would consider as well.

Otherwise Carnival is probably your best bet.

I hope that helps. Feel free to FM with any questions etc.

Some people in my family, about 20 people, are going on the new Oasis of the Seas in March.DH and I wanted to go and take our DD who would be 8 months old at the time, but they wanted $899 plus tax & port for her. Out of spite, I would NOT pay it, so therefor, we are going to Aruba and using our timeshare at the Marriott instead!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience on RCCL. I'm going to show DH this thread later, but he's not budging... he only wants to do RCCL. I agree that it was the best cruise we'd been on (and we'd been on both cruiselines in the past) but we didn't have DD then.

Good to know that Oasis has the daycare... we are looking into that ship!

I feel the same way as your DH. I have been on alot of cruises and cruiselines. Dh and I just loved RCCL the best. We are thinking of going on a cruise next July with DS. He will be 2 1/2 at the time. This post was very helpful!!!
