IKEA kitchen Q - did you install yourself?

For those who bought IKEA kitchen cabinets.

- Did you install the cabinets yourself?
- How is the quality in the long run?
- Which one would you recommend or stay away from?

Re: IKEA kitchen Q - did you install yourself?

We installed ours. Putting them together was kind of a pain, but once you do a few you get the hang of it and they go pretty fast. Putting them up is actually pretty easy - they give you a rail to hang them from which really helps.

As for them lasting, we only put them in a few months ago. But honestly, for the price, if they only last 5-10 years, it is worth it.

ETA: Not sure what you mean by which one I would recommend or stay away from. Do you mean actual stores? Or the cabinets themselves?
The cabinets are all the same, they differ in the doors. But the boxes are all the same.

I was talking about the cabinets/finish. Do they scratch/dent easy?

We installed them ourselves in our old house. Like a PP said putting them together was pain but once you start it goes fast. We had the the medium brown Akart (I think that was the name) door front and we lived their for 3 years before we moved and and it looked great until the day we left. My DS was cruising when we left and figured out to open and close the doors and drawers (by close I mean slam) and they still worked fine. I love their drawers and think the held up really well.
