I'm a Mommy!
Hi Ladies,
I have a few minutes to hop on and say hello. First thank you for everything the last 9 months, I wouldn't have made it through it without all my fellow wonderful preggo ladies.
Joseph Matthew came into this world a week late on November 16 at 9:24 pm. He was 7lbs 1oz, 20 inches long. Perfect.
The night of the 15th, I was having a mental breakdown in my bed, by myself when DH heard me, walked into our room and just crawled into bed with me, I was getting discouraged about not going on my own and was just overwhelmed. So in the middle of crying, I turned to DH and I said give him (or her at the time) a stern talking to....so he got down to my tummy and said "your making mommy a little upset, we just want to meet you that's all..." I am NOT kidding when I say that about 3 minutes later I had my very first contraction!!!!!!! & ya know how people say "you'll know.."....ummmm that's really true, you'll definitely know when you have one!! lol So with that....they started coming but only about every half hour but they were longer then a minute each. At 330 am I SHOT out of bed in PAIN, got up (b/c every contraction I literally thought I had to go #2..which clearly you don't lol) and I was STILL bleeding a lot, it freaked me out so I called the doctor. She said since it's still every half hour to pretty much hang in there but to come in the next morning....so we had a regular appointment with my doctor at 10am, so we decided to wait until then. Right before we left for the doctors, I had a horrible contraction that sent me slamming into the floor b/c I didn't know what to do with myself haha....so we got to the docs and checked me out and was like WOAH, your 4cm...4cm is a lot for having contractions a half hour apart especially that I was a fingertip like 2 days prior. So he said go home, get your bags and go to the hospital!!! (Matt & I were shocked)
So we get to the hospital, check in and they send me up to L&D while matt is filling out paperwork, I get all set up and then am in the room by myself and of course that was when I had THE worst contraction....it was 3 minutes long and peaking off the chart, I thought I was going to die (breathing goes out the window at the point but I did breathe through it and then immediately thought how they HELL do people do this the whole time? Much props lol) So I got checked on a few times, got the epidural (which is a godsend but I HATED the numbness in my legs, it gave me a panic attack)..6cm., 7cms, 8/9cms but for some reason the way he was laying my whole left side was dilated but my right was still 8/9, so they uped the pitocin (which they put me on b/c my contractions were SO irregular, they would go for 3 minutes at random peaks, & then not doing anything for like 8 minutes, it was bizarre) so the pitocin regulated them.
So long story short, she said lets see if you can push him out even with the right side not completely opened....so Push #1, good....push #2....NOT GOOD, his heart rate dropped to 88 and with that about 6 more nurses come running into the room (b/c they can all see his monitor)......PANIC...they are grabbing the oxygen, putting it over my face and I'm like w t f??!!!...it took a what felt like forever for his heart rate to go back up, but it did  and doctor then said the words c-section, she said she didn't like that only my second push he was in distress. She said a few more pushes, we'll try and see what happens but if it drops agin be prepared to immediately go in for a c-section. So push after push after push he was cooperating. They told me I was the best pusher they've ever had & that I was really strong  (in my head I was just going...YOU ARE COMING OUT NATURALLY!!) soooooo after about an hour of pushing, the word c-section came up again, I was pushing great and progressing him well during the pushes but he couldn't get over my pelvic bone (of course)....so again she said a few more times....with that she told I had one good "MAD" push, they were all screaming GO DEVON GO DEVON GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and 10 second pushes really turn out to be 30!!! (they are never 10 haha) the next thing I know, my doctor was like I need to put on my sanitary stuff (she didn't call it that lol) b/c this kids is coming out NOW!!!!!!!! and after about 2 hours of pushing, he popped out!!!!!!!! IT'S A BOY!!!!!! He was placed on me and he was WIDE awake, like HEY MOM lol.......
He was a perfect and more then I could ever imagine.
I did get an episiotomy (sp??) AND I tore on the side. It's been um a little painful, not going to lie but I'll survive. He's taken to breast feeding well, I'm still waiting on my milk to come in,so hopefully it will soon! I'm very sore from that b/c at first my right nipple was inverted so he was only taking from my left side, ouch....but again I'll make it through. We had a little rough night last night, I honestly think he was gassy but I did allow him to sleep on my chest twice, which I know I can't make a habit of it but he literally was fussy and WIDE awake at 3am and I didn't know what else to do.
Either way this is SO LONG, if you made it through...good for you!!!! lol
Huntington Hospital was AWESOME, for ladies delivering there you have NOTHING, NOTHING to worry about.

congrats!! so happy that it all worked out and you didn't have to have a C-section. And don't worry about him sleeping on your chest. At 3 weeks old, DS pretty much only sleeps on my chest!. Whatever works!
