I'm Confused...Pack N Play Related

So here's my boggle....

This is the pack n play we registered for - we like the modern look of it, and the color red is Dave's favorite. It's also neutral, so it works for us on several levels.

NOW - there is this OTHER pack n play that has a 'newborn nap thingy'...

External Image

i thought the regular pack n play was designed for a newborn nap techically...is this SUCH a big deal? is there such a difference in this that we should switch???

Just to note - we will NOT be using this for the baby to be sleeping in at night, we will have a co-sleeper in our bedroom and a crib in the baby's room (the baby's room and our room are at opposite ends of the apartment, so for the first several months, having her in our room is our ONLY option for my peace of mind). So - we will be using this for napping during the day I guess...and playing in, etc....

I would stick with the original one you registered for. The newborn sleeper isn't necessary. We used the top (bassinet) of the PNP for naps and stuff and it was fine in the beginning.

I agree.. i got the same one as you, different pattern, because my Cousin raves about it.. it really is easy for daytime naps... and we also are doing a basinett in our room and a crib in the babys room, so she will never sleep for extended periods of time in the pack and play....

Re: I'm Confused...Pack N Play Related

I could be wrong since I'm not a mom yet but I think most of the Graco pack n plays are very similar and serve the same purpose. I'd pick the one that you like the design most. That is what I did.

However, from this LIF board, I read that the mobile was actually practical so I ended up switching from a pack n play that was had the newborn sleep thing with a shade cover (?)and diaper change area to one that had a sleep area with a mobile and a change area.

I think you should stick to what you have now. I feel the 1st PNP has more room for the baby and the 2nd seems so much smaller. The 2nd looks like it could fit a baby doll Chat Icon I really like the 2nd one tho but I am going with the same PNP as you but different pattern.

To be completely honest Jess, with Hannah, we didn't even use the pack n play until she was older. We would use it when we were outside, going places, things like that, when she was able to sit by herself.

the one you registered for will be just fine for napping! the "newborn nap" thing is a gimmick, imo, you totally don't need it. Chat Icon

agree . we just used that little diaper changing thingy for baby to sleep in the beginning instead of changing her diapers in it and then the bassinet part.

I chose the same one as you rather than the one with the napper.

We picked the one without the napper too. It's just one more thing that you probably won't need anyways.Chat Icon

For DS we had the milan one. It had a bassinett, changing table and a mobile. I really loved the changing table and the mobile part of it. We still use the pnp when we go on vacation for DS to sleep in. He did not love the basinett part so much but it was useful. HTH

I think the baby would outgrow that newborn napper pretty quickly.

I agree they will outgrow the napper quickly. I like the red one but the changing part looks tiny! I know my DD who is 6 months would never fit in that.

I have the Graco one (green and gray) and the changing part is much bigger.

Just a thought...it may be bigger in person.
