I'm getting a little worried...
everything was going so well and I was feeling great. Then yesterday afternoon I started feeling full and I've had that same feeling of fullness all night last night, overnight and into this morning. I hope I'm not going to get OHSS again after my trigger... the thought of going thru that again terrifies me--- I suffered for quite a while last time. If it happens I'm hoping it won't be so severe this time.
Anyone that had an IUI get that feeling of fullness? I'm not in pain, but it's a little uncomfortable. Hopefully I'll trigger tonight.
Also, what happens to the follicles that aren't mature? I realized last night that I never thought about that. Do they shed when AF comes? What if I get pg- then what happens to them? The # he said it's like 3 YEARS of trying naturally (though so far most of them aren't mature but I don't know if that matters), assuming 1 follicle released a month And I know we only have so many eggs in a lifetime--- and we're born w/ that # so I'm just really starting to think about everything...... UGH. What a way to start my morning. DH and I are leaving for the drs office now. I'll update when I'm back.

Re: I'm getting a little worried...
I just found this in an article in Time, "By puberty, normal degeneration will have reduced that number to about 400,000. When the woman exhausts the supply, her ovaries will virtually shut down, an event she experiences as menopause.
The limited supply of eggs is believed to be a chief reason that fertility decreases with age. Each month, starting at puberty, hundreds of eggs begin the maturation process. One of them, growing in a fluid-filled sac called the follicle, quickly establishes itself as the first among equals. In a normal cycle, only that single egg will be released to the Fallopian tubes for possible fertilization. About 1,000 more will wither away and disappear. So although a woman may have 400,000 eggs to start with, the number she can effectively use is closer to 400.

Re: I'm getting a little worried...
You are probably feeling full because you have a ton of eggs in your ovaries. I remember eating the day after trigger was uncomfortable. And you have far more follies right now than I did. Trigger will mature your eggs.
Keep drinking water and drink gatorade. I hate gatorade but managed to drink the lemon one. I hate fruity drinks.
Hmmm...with IVF they take all the eggs out. But, hopefully the non mature ones will just shrink and go away if (WHEN) you get pg.
Good luck and just another day away. YEAH!

I've never had that feeling, but I would think its because you have a lot of follies in there. Don't worry abut the ones that don't release eggs, they will disappear on their own.

Re: I'm getting a little worried...
I'm so sorry you are so worried. It's hard not to be though. I do have to tell you, I had that very full feeling with my last IVF cycle. My ovaries were so big they must have been pushing on my bladder or something b/c I was peeing constantly! I'm not at risk for OHSS so the full feeling can just be normal.
I've been wondering a lot too as I approach my 3rd IVF cycle. Since I am producing so many eggs with each cycle, does that mean I will go into menopause sooner than I normally would have???
Can't wait to hear your update!

Re: I'm getting a little worried...
I totally understand your worry about OHSS. After going through it this month myself, I am totally paranoid about it happening again in the future. I know that past episodes of OHSS can predict future episodes. Let's hope it doesn't happen for you this cycle. Unfortunately, you won't know for sure until after you O. Best of luck this weekend!

Re: I'm getting a little worried...
I'm right there with you. I'm on day 9 of stims and that's when it usually starts for me. I get bloated and I can "feel" my ovaries expanding LOL. Happens every time. Right now I've got 2 follies at 14 and 3 a little smaller than that, plus all those little ones that never do anything. I actually don't know what happens to the immature follies at trigger - I should ask my doctor.
ETA - what was your last estradiol? Is it going up too quickly? I hope you can trigger tonight to stop any more from growing. I'm looking at probably a Saturday night trigger and monday am IUI. My doctor starts me superlow and I stim for longer than usual I guess because I hyperstimmed that first time.

Posted by Carolyn ETA - what was your last estradiol? Is it going up too quickly? QUOTE]
They have me on lupron and BCPs before this to supress my ovaries and it was working like a charm until yesterday= which is werid b/c he lowered my dose the night before he found out about it. Last night my estrodial was 771--- the night before it was like 368 or somewhere around that. It's doubled or a little more every day. It went from 2 to 100 to 178 or something to 368 to 771... and we'll see what todays is.
