I'm having a family gathering at my house-hope board is ok to post...
Im having my family over my house for brunch...All together we are about 45 people.
If you had 45 people at your house...would you hire someone to help you throughout the party?
If so, can you recommend someone? and aprox how much it was? Is that rude of me to ask? I jsut want to know about how much...
Thanks so much!

I wouldn't hire someone, I have a really large family and am used to large gatherings, BUT we also always do potlucks, where everyone brings a dish so it isn't too much work on any one person.

To me 45 people is alot of people
Are you renting tables and chairs? Is it a buffet or sit down? Are you cooking the food yourself?
I would hire someone, but thats just me, i could never do it all on my own, and i would like to enjoy my guests while someone else did all the work, i wouldnt want to be in the kitchen the entire time.

Thanks for your response. I am not use to big gatherings...I am very nervous about it. I am good preparing and setting up everything...but keeping up as the night goes on is hard for me. I guess with practice.

I am going to rent a tent....I get a lot of sun on my back yard. I have tables and folding chairs.
Not sure if I am going to cater some of the party or cook....my guests offered to bring dishes.... Which is always helpful. I jsut want to enjoy my family!

That sounds great
I have hired people from craigslist for gatherings
I hired a chef for a fathers day brunch, she was great and she cooked all the food and it was amazing. She even went grocery shopping as well and brought food to my house.
You should search craigslist and call a few people and see what they cost

45 people - if you can afford to, I would hire someone - like you said, you want to get a chance to relax and enjoy the party.

I would hire someone but my DH would probably ax it as he feels the kitchen is his
That's great but the serving, clean-up, etc is mine & I'm not having fun hosting parties.
Go for the help. You won't regret it.

Re: I'm having a family gathering at my house-hope board is ok to post...
i think i would hire someone, just to kind of ease your mind and give you a chance to enjoy the party. my sister and her husband had their wedding reception as a BBQ in my parents backyard- probably 75 people i think. my dad and uncles made BBQ chicken, my mom, sis and i made all the other food. after the party, my mom said she wished she would have had someone come to help set up and serve the food so she could have enjoyed the party more... even college students who are looking for a few extra dollars... ALSO, if your family offered to bring dishes, let them!! take advantage of it! when we have parties with our big group of friends, everybody brings something to help with the cost and "stress" of the person whos having the party.
