I'm out for this month -- UPDATE
Today is 7dp5dt, did hpt this am, and it's a bfn. Really sad about it, had none to freeze this month so will be doing the whole cycle next month again. Wish I knew why we were not getting pregnant. Now that our first ivf was a failure I'm doubting if ivf will even work for us :( I go for beta tomorrow morning to make it official.
UPDATE: so beta came back officially negative today. I spoke with physician, next cycle I do we're going to transfer 2 embryos on day 3 because doctor said my embryos were doing great on day 3, but by day 5 only had 1 left. Dr. was thinking maybe my embryos just don't like being out of my body...i guess we'll see

Re: I'm out for this month
I'm so sorry! This is just so tough. I'd like to say that maybe 7 days after is still early and that it's not over until it's over! Your beta will show the official results tomorrow. Hang in there, I am thinking of you!!! My beta is Thursday and I'm not feeling very optimistic

I'm out for this month
This whole process is so emotional. I don't know if it's all the hormones they put you on for ivf but I've definitely cried more this month than the past 27 months of trying combined. Now I'm trying to accept this bfn and build hope for next month, but I'm still sad and feel confused.

It's so much to process, I've been so emotional the past 24 hours

Re: I'm out for this month
Are you sure you are out? I was convinced I was out and was not. If I had to do it all over again I would not have tested until beta, it may have just not shown up. Can so relate to the emotional part. When I found out I had no eggs to freeze I had to pull over at a gas station and cry my eyes out before going to work, which is so unlike me. Good thoughts for you.

I'm so sorry ladies. I will say that if you are going through IVF, depending on your circumstances, your chances with IVF increase with each cycle you do. Not like we all have unlimited amounts of money to keep trying and the emotional aspect is difficult to deal with as well!

I never heard that before, that's interesting. I only have 2 more that insurance will cover so I'm going to do next month, then if I don't get pregnant take a break for the summer go on vacation somewhere and then do the third one in the fall. But I'm praying next cycle works.

This is generally true. Your first IVF cycle may be no different than your second IVF cycle and just result in a different outcome. Most time, the doctors learn between your cycles and will adjust the treatment protocol to increase chances of success. For example, my first IVF cycle we didn't do ICSI. We had 17 mature follicles retrieved and only 4 fertilized. By day 3, only 1 was left. Because of that, my doctor knew the protocol I had was successful in creating mature follicles, but that our fertilization % was low. Second time I did ICSI and we ended with 18 fertilized embryos. By day 3 I had 4 to choose from. I transferred 1, they froze 2 and discarded a grade C. To OP- Sounds like a totally good plan. Give your body time to rest in between!

We're technically unknown secondary infertility. However my husband had 2 abnormal sperm analysis (low morphology), but then had a perfect semen analysis. We had DD 3 1/2 years ago and we got pregnant on first month trying. Now we've been trying 27 months, 5 iuis, 1 chemical and now 1 failed ivf.

Ok, I was going to guess it was male IF. Usually, when the embryos are perfect on day 3, and then slow between days 4-5, it's a sperm issue. We had 4 A and AA embies on day 3. By day 5 none had made it to blast. We were dealing with MIF.
So, unfortunately, my guess is that a day 3 or day 5 transfer may not make a difference if the problem is the underlying sperm. I might ask for more sperm testing before undergoing another IVF just to make sure they are ok.

sorry to keep this going... but just one more question, what else would they test the sperm for? TIA!

I agree with the pp. see if they can test for dna fragmentation of the sperm. We were also dealing with male factor infertility. I also think the lab matters SO much with MFI.
