im overwhelmed..and so it begins...
I got a call from an IVF nurse today at RMA to go over some details of what IVF would entail.
I have to call on Day 1 to arrange baseline testing on day 3 or 4. (which AF is due this weekend).
They want to do an HSG, Hysteroscopy and mock transfer. I have to do BC pills for 2 weeks, then the round of stims. So sometime in that 2 weeks of BCP is when they want to do the HSG and hysteroscopy. (not on the same days).
I also need a 2 hr nursing consult.
Im completely overwhelmed at all this b/c I have very little time off left for the year that isnt already accounted for. (I really wasnt anticipating doing IVF this year or I would have planned better).
Im going to need 2 days to do the HSG and hysteroscopy, then another 2 days for the egg retrieval and transfer.
My DS starts a new school in Sept and its catholic school with a shit ton of days off for BS reasons in september..so I was already anticipating having to work out something with work for the week that aftercare doesnt start (like wokring from home 1/2 days etc).
Im going to talk to HR about taking unpaid days off if I have to rather than blowing through whatever days I have left. Im skeptical of giving too much info to HR though.
I have a ridic schedule already b/c in addition to working full time i have a home based stationery business and Im up to my eyeballs in invitations from now until mid august.
the thought of this is just completely overwhelming to me.

Sorry, I feel your pain. The thing that makes IVF so difficult is coordinating it with your work schedule. If I didn't work, I wouldn't be nervous about it at all.
BTW, I had the HSG and didn't take the whole day off. I took half a day because my appt was at 2 but I was fine after.

I hear you... I'd see which tests you are def getting & try to arrange them as late as possible in the day. Get a babysitter you can depend on! It helps to let someone at your workplace know, if possible. I work w all males & you'd be surprised how positive they were. It helped explain last minute needs (like retrieval & transfers).

I will be emailing my bosses as I will probably have to go in early monday morning for baseline testing as I think AF is showing any day now. They are super cool. I'd like to just use the time as unpaid so I may as HR if there is some sort of "medical leave" or process I need to go through for that.
RMA did say they can try to schedule the 2 hr nursing consult at the surgery center when they do the hysteroscopy. that would help b/c otherwise the consults are only done at like 9am.

It is a scheduling nightmare!!! However... It is worth it. Also, you can get an FMLA case if you want to CYA if possible through your job.

Re: im overwhelmed..and so it begins...
Honestly I did my HSG and went to work after, it wasn't that bad, just mild cramping if you don't want to waste a whole day for it.
would you be able to schedule your Hystoscopy later in the day and maybe take half a day?

I got AF this morning, 3 days early. So they scheduled HSG for 8/10 @ 2:30 luckily thats at the local hospital. I can use the 1/2 personal day I have left.
The hysteroscopy they didnt have openings for yet so thats still TBD.
But I did decide to wait until sept to start any IVF treatments as it will really just be easier with my DS in his new school. Currently he's at the daycare on site at my job and we work 30 min away from home. Too much to coordinate with bringing him, coming home for the tests and then going back to get him. Will just be way easier with him at school 5 min from home.
