In Ground Sprinklers
Has anyone put in their own?
Is it hard? Is it worth it?

Re: In Ground Sprinklers
DH put them in himself -- he is very handy. We saved a ton of $$. But I would say yes, it was a lot of work.

Re: In Ground Sprinklers
I would have someone do it. Our neighbor is very handy did it himself to save money and it took him a long time and many weekends.
It really wasn't that expensive to have someone professionally come in and do it.

Re: In Ground Sprinklers
my DH didn't use a machine for the pipes, he dug the trenches with a shovel. the hardest part was the plumbing. laying the actual pipes & putting the heads on is easy, but is time consuming. My DH doesn't like to pay anyone to do stuff he can do himself, I'm not sure if we actually saved money considering it took him a whole weekend.

I dont know if they go by square feet but for us...our flower beds is one zone, where as the grass next to it is another one...does that make sense??
I would get an estimate and make sure to you tell them if you are planning on putting in any gardens or such...so they can plan for that.

Re: In Ground Sprinklers
For the people that have had them done - could you give me the # of the place that you used.
I am not sure if we are going to do it yet - but maybe we will get some prices.

Re: In Ground Sprinklers
We did this on our own. It wasn't that bad. At home depot there was a free small pamphlet that explained how to do it. We try to do as much on our own as possible - and have better vacations and less debt.
We did not rent the machine to dig the trenches, we got a very thin shovel - Thin as in the head was not wide. It was only wide enough for the pipe, so we didnt take out much more dirt than we needed to, and that made it much easier.
The effort is worth it - its nice to not have to water the flowers and grass!
